As the evening fell, Zoran returned home, completely exhausted.
Seeing no sign of me in the mansion, he pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration and called out for me once again, his voice booming.
"Melody, are you never going to stop this?!"
"You've left Genevieve battered and bruised, and I've merely given you a small taste of punishment. If you can't handle that, how do you think it compares to the pain Genevieve endured?!"
His furious voice echoed throughout the house, but there was still no response from me in any of the rooms.
Zoran grew anxious. He strode to my bedroom door with heavy steps.
"Melody, open this door!"
"Don't think you can hide like a rat and everything will be fine!"
"Genevieve narrowly escaped death. It's heaven's mercy that she's out of danger. You need to face the consequences of your actions!"
"Melody!"
His large, powerful hands repeatedly pounded on the door. The harsh banging sound kept piercing through the wood, but he still received no response from me.
A flash of frenzy suddenly appeared on Zoran's face.
He was both furious and confused.
Because in our three years together, I had never had the habit of locking my door. The reason my bedroom door was locked was that on the night I died, my stomach had been in constant, excruciating pain. I wanted to open the door and called out to Zoran to save me.
But the floor was too far from the doorknob. Despite using all my strength, I couldn't reach it. Just as I'm about to collapse, my hand accidentally slid the door lock.
With that, I was completely cut off from the world.
Zoran stood at the doorway. After knocking several times without getting a response from me, panic gradually spread across his face.
He seemed to have just realized the significance of the number "three" - for three whole days, I hadn't appeared.
No eating, no drinking, not even a single trip to the bathroom.
Thinking about this, Zoran completely lost his composure...
