Chapter 4: Level 1 Psychic Monster

"Hiss hiss…"

The café employee saw that Lu Xin did not run away. Instead, he turned around and provocatively smirked.

As the smile on his face twisted to an extreme degree, his flesh suddenly tore apart, revealing a black, writhing mass underneath. This mass undulated and extended outward, forming thick, grotesque tentacles. Some of these tentacles bore massive mouths lined with sharp, short fangs that snapped open and shut. Others pulsed and rolled, revealing gigantic eyeballs.

Then, all the mouths suddenly opened wide and sprayed out strands of sticky liquid.

Lu Xin shuddered from head to toe. "We should run…"

His younger sister, however, only stared at the monster excitedly. "I'm not running. Look how cute it is…"

Before she even finished speaking, the monster let out a deafening roar and swung its countless thick tentacles at them.

Lu Xin was both shocked and terrified. He couldn't help but cry out, "I…"

But before he could finish, his younger sister suddenly grabbed him and charged straight at the monster.

"The psychic energy fluctuation has reached its maximum threshold…"

Inside the observation room, a staff member furiously tapped on his keyboard and shouted, "A Level 1 Psychic Monster has appeared!"

On the monitors in front of them, the entire empty subway station trembled as if an earthquake had struck. With the café employee at its center, massive cracks split across the floor, and deep craters formed as though struck by an invisible force. The surrounding people—including the so-called 'customers' in the café—were torn apart by the chaos, their bodies shredded into pieces.

It was as if an unseen force field was twisting, distorting, and obliterating everything in its path.

"A subway train will arrive in three minutes! There are at least thirty passengers on board!"

Another staff member shouted anxiously and turned to the short-haired woman. "What do we do?"

The short-haired woman took a deep breath, momentarily unable to make a decision.

"Logically speaking, a Spider-Type Psychic Mutant shouldn't be able to handle a creature of this level without specialized weapons…"

"But…"

On the flickering monitor screen, the observed target—the young man—was actually charging straight toward the psychic monster, completely ignoring the warping force field around the café employee.

The moment he moved, the ground around him was struck by an invisible force, creating a deep pit. He quickly shrank his body to dodge, and seventy-eight meters behind him, a hole suddenly appeared in the body of another person.

Yet, despite the extreme danger, he had forced his way right up to the café employee's side.

Then, he reached out and grabbed the café employee's arm.

"Sizzle…"

At that moment, the monitor screen abruptly went black.

The subway station's surveillance cameras had all been completely destroyed by the invisible psychic force.

The short-haired woman gasped and suddenly shouted, "Move, now!"

Everyone in the room sprang into action, including the little girl in the neighboring chamber.

"Hehehe…"

Meanwhile, inside the subway station, Lu Xin felt bitter inside, yet his mouth let out a triumphant and playful laugh. His eyes shone with a strange excitement.

In front of him, countless terrifying, eerie tentacles lashed toward him. Instinctively, he knew that being even grazed by one would bring irreversible consequences—something horrifying beyond imagination.

Yet, amidst the overwhelming danger, he felt nothing but exhilaration.

His body twisted into bizarre, contorted movements as he darted forward, avoiding the tentacles with impossible precision. He reached the monster's side.

"Rip—"

He reached out, grabbed a chunk of the monster's flesh, and twisted it forcefully. Sticky fluid splattered everywhere.

One of the monster's massive tentacles was torn off completely.

The monster howled in agony, all of its mouths screaming in unison.

But Lu Xin only became more excited. He circled around the monster relentlessly.

Though his strength was clearly inferior to the monster's, he could sense that getting caught by it meant instant death. But rather than fear, he found the situation incredibly amusing. Like a cat toying with a mouse, he darted in and out of reach, ripping off one tentacle after another each time he closed in.

He was dismantling the monster.

As more and more tentacles were torn away, the monster became overwhelmed with rage and fear. No matter how it fought back, Lu Xin only became more thrilled. His figure flickered like a ghost as he shredded pieces of flesh from the creature's body.

The monster's screams grew weaker and weaker. Blood and severed limbs littered the ground.

But strangely, as time passed, the fallen body parts and blood slowly faded away, vanishing into nothingness.

In the end, the monster was too weak to resist. Fear consumed it as it desperately crawled toward the subway exit.

Lu Xin, however, leaped onto the station wall in pursuit. As he moved, he yanked a long, slender metal pipe from the ceiling.

Laughing wildly, he jumped down from the wall, aimed the pipe, and drove it straight through the monster's head.

"Puff!"

The monster was impaled, pinned to the ground.

It struggled frantically, its few remaining tentacles flailing helplessly.

Lu Xin crouched nearby, watching with intense satisfaction as it howled and writhed.

In the many eyes on its tentacles, overwhelming terror was evident. Suddenly, all of the tentacles tensed up.

Then, with a sickening 'pop,' the entire creature exploded into globs of blood.

The blood splattered outward like a thick mist.

Fortunately, Lu Xin was hyper-alert. In an instant, he sidestepped to avoid the writhing mass of flesh.

The 'customers' from the café, however, were not so lucky. The moment they were enveloped by the blood, they snapped out of a dazed trance.

During the battle, they had been caught in the indiscriminate attacks of the café employee, suffering heavy casualties. Yet, they had not reacted at all. Now, as if waking from a nightmare, they screamed and ran in all directions.

Some bolted for the exits. Others even leaped onto the subway tracks, completely ignoring the incoming train.

They seemed utterly insane, unconcerned about being crushed into pulp.

"You want to run?"

Lu Xin's eyes gleamed with feverish excitement. His gaze darted around, and he lunged toward the nearest fleeing person—a limping, overweight woman.

She had been struck by a tentacle earlier, leaving her left leg twisted at an unnatural angle. Even so, she frantically dragged herself forward. Sensing Lu Xin closing in, she suddenly turned around and opened her mouth wide—so wide it reached her ears.

Her greasy, yellowed teeth now looked unnaturally sharp.

She no longer resembled a human but a wild, mindless beast.

"Swish!"

Lu Xin sidestepped her bite effortlessly. Then, with a swift twist of his arm, he snapped her neck.

His body blurred as he chased down the other escaping figures.

His eyes burned with crazed excitement, and his movements were unnaturally fast—eerily agile. In mere moments, he had already slaughtered four or five 'customers.'

However, there were too many of them. By the time he had dealt with a few, the rest had already scattered.

The subway station was now empty.

"Clatter…"

A faint noise suddenly broke the silence.

Lu Xin snapped his head around.

Inside a security booth, an old guard stood trembling, staring at him in sheer terror.

The old guard had been extraordinarily lucky.

Despite the carnage, his booth remained untouched. He had survived unscathed.

But now, he had made a sound.

Lu Xin's eyes gleamed black and bottomless. A twisted, excited grin spread across his face.

In the next instant, he lunged at the old guard, fingers stretched out, reaching for his head.

The old guard clutched his head in terror.

But the expected attack never came.

"Enough…"

Lu Xin roared in anger, yanking his younger sister back.

Her delicate fingers had been just inches away from the old guard's face.

She was wild, but Lu Xin could stop her—when he truly wanted to.

And right now, he did.
