CH 29: Storm

Ragnar took a step forward, about to try his hand at the art of negotiation but he forgot, however, that he didn't know anything about negotiating.

"Don't you have any place to stay? The space in the back is huge," Ragnar said, flashing a charming smile, unaware that his words were more likely to freak Ororo out than win her over.

Sicilia's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at her son. Elliot just kept patting the RV seat, trying to stifle his laughter.

Ororo's eyes widened, and she stepped back, her voice rising with fear. "Stay away!" she shouted, raising her hand, her fingers crackling with lightning.

"Come on, don't be like that. How about I show you?" Ragnar said, extending his hand.

Ragnar wanted to demonstrate the RV's incredible features show the bedroom that had an expansion charm that transformed it into a long corridor filled with rooms, their family bedroom, and several empty ones.

"No!" Ororo cried out, her fear momentarily battling with her anger. "Are you a pervert?" she asked, her voice trembling with a mixture of fear and fury. She unleashed a bolt of lightning, hoping it would be enough to deter him.

Ragnar flinched as the electricity struck him, but he only trembled slightly. He let out a groan, but despite the fact that Ororo's lightning could incapacitate a grown man, Ragnar was a dragon.

"Now that was interesting," Ragnar said, his eyes sparkling. He felt a tingling sensation, as if his body was being massaged by a current of electricity. He looked at Ororo with a newfound interest.

"Okay, that's enough, Ragnar," Sicilia said, stepping in front of Ragnar. She scrutinized him with a stern gaze. "What is wrong with you? We didn't teach you to talk to a girl like that."

Ragnar glanced over his mother's shoulder, catching Ororo's wary expression. He turned back to his mother, mouthing the word "Mission."

Sicilia's eyes widened in understanding. She knew how much her son craved missions, but she still shook her head.

"No, you're scaring the girl. We can't force her to stay." Sicilia stared into Ragnar's eyes, her voice firm, determined to make him stop.

"How about this? If you don't have anywhere to stay, you can come with us until we leave," Sicilia said, turning to Ororo. "But for now, you can leave if you want." She pulled Ragnar aside, making way for Ororo.

Ororo quickly brushed away a tear, a practiced gesture from her experience, her face hardening with a skepticism that was anything but genuine.

Ororo surveyed them, her eyes sharp and calculating, not believing a word of their lies. Slowly, she walked toward the door, passing Elliot with a silent, almost defiant, grace.

"Wait!" Ragnar shouted, unable to simply give up on the mission. He broke free of his mother's grasp and raced after Ororo.

"Follow us slowly," he said to the RV, then left, as the door automatically closed behind him. The RV began to float into the sky, following Ragnar.

Ororo had been determined to stay away from the RV, but when she looked up and saw it flying, she stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening in disbelief. 'How is that even possible?' she thought, her mind reeling.

"How is it? Isn't it amazing?" Ragnar asked, his eyes gleaming with mischievous delight as he saw Ororo's astonished expression. That was why he had made the RV fly and follow her, to impress her to make her curious.

"Why are you following me?" Ororo demanded, her gaze fixed on Ragnar, her voice laced with anger. She quickly scanned the surroundings, looking for Sicilia, finding she was nowhere to be seen.

"Do you think this is the only thing I can do?" Ororo raised her hand, lightning gathering at her fingertips. She raised her fist, a gust of wind whipping around her as she prepared to strike.

"Oh, come on, I didn't come here to fight. I just want to invite you to come with us," Ragnar said, raising his hands in surrender.

Ororo glared at him, scoffing before lowering her fist, the lightning dissipating. "Don't follow me!" She turned and sprinted down the street, weaving through the crowds. She wanted to lose Ragnar. She slipped into an abandoned alley, and looking back, saw that Ragnar wasn't there.

Ororo breathed a sigh of relief, patting her chest. 'Finally got rid of that annoying guy,' she thought. But before she could take another step, she heard Ragnar's voice.

"I think you shouldn't cut your hair into a mohawk in the future. It looks good now," Ragnar said, sitting on a wall, looking down at her. He observed her long, shiny white hair that cascaded down her back. 'Yeah, it looks good,' he thought, comparing it to Storm's hair in X-Men: Apocalypse.

"Didn't I tell you to stop following me?" Ororo glared at him.

"How about a deal?" Ragnar said, a sly smile twisting his lips as he jumped down from the wall.

"What do you want?" Ororo asked, her fist clenching. She took a step back, putting some distance between them.

"You help me find some men with triangle tattoos on their necks, and I'll leave," Ragnar said, walking towards her, offering his hand.

"Okay…" Ororo considered his offer for a moment, then took his hand. Suddenly, her eyes flashed white, and she punched him in the face.

Ragnar's eyes narrowed, surprise flashing across his face, but he wasn't hurt. He just hadn't expected her to fight back, but he wasn't fazed.

"Come on, I was still talking nicely," Ragnar said, his voice a low growl, as he easily caught her fist. His golden eyes blazed with an intensity that sent a shiver down her spine.

Ororo's eyes widened. 'A mutant?' she thought. She kicked Ragnar in the stomach, forcing him to let go.

"The RV, your eyes, what are you?" Ororo demanded, her gaze locked on Ragnar's. She couldn't shake the feeling that something about him was off.

"Are your parents like you? Are you a mutant?" Ororo wasn't sure if she was asking out of curiosity or out of a desperate need to understand the dangerous force she had encountered.

"Nope. I'm what you call a dragon," Ragnar whispered, a smirk playing on his lips. He charged at her, stretching out his hand.

Ororo's eyes widened at his speed. She hurriedly threw a bolt of lightning at him, but he quickly formed golden scales on his hand and arm, disintegrating the electricity as if it were nothing.

Ragnar then grabbed her by the throat, pushing her against the wall.

"Go, my boy! Show her what you got! Come on!" Elliot shouted from the RV, leaning out the window, his voice booming with excitement.

Elliot watched the scene unfolding in the alley, a grin plastered across his face. 'I wish I'd had that kind of confidence when I met your mother,' he thought, but he didn't dare say it out loud.

"That's the right way? Are you the one who taught him that kind of crap?" Sicilia's voice was a low growl, filled with a coldness that made Elliot shiver.

"What? Don't talk nonsense!" Elliot said, his excitement momentarily fading. He turned around to face Sicilia, who stood behind him with her arms crossed, her fingers tapping impatiently against her arms. She scrutinized him, her gaze sharp and skeptical.

"He learned it by himself. Look how smooth he is!" Elliot shouted, pointing towards the alley.

Sicilia rolled her eyes, peering down at the alley through the window. A thought crossed her mind, 'That girl won't like it if she knew what was happening,' she thought, remembering Jean, who was somehow connected to Ragnar.

Ororo glared at Ragnar, even though she couldn't physically defeat him. She refused to admit defeat and continued to fight back, her eyes flickering full white as a gust of wind swirled around them.

"You really are a white lioness," Ragnar whispered, looking around. He remembered her nickname from the comics which really shower her unyieldingness and let her go. "I just wanted to show you I can beat you if I want," he said, raising his hands and taking a step back.

"White lioness?" Ororo whispered, rubbing her neck. She looked Ragnar up and down, knowing she couldn't beat him.

Simultaneously, Ororo was starting to feel curious about him as the first other mutant she saw in person and at the same time because of the flying RV that hovered in the sky.

"What you want is a cultist, right?" Ororo asked, remembering where she had seen the people with triangle tattoos that Ragnar wanted to find.

"Cultist?" Ragnar asked, confused. He only knew that people with those tattoos worshipped Apocalypse.

"How about this, I'll show you where they are, and you'll tell me how you guys got one of those," Ororo said, pointing up at the floating RV. "Deal?" She held out her hand.

"Deal, why not?" Ragnar said, a sly smile spreading across his lips. He was thrilled to finally find a clue about Apocalypse, but he wouldn't give up on his mission to invite Storm to join his team.

"Stay behind me," Ororo said, pulling her hood over her head, hiding her distinctive white hair. She began to walk into the crowded streets.

Ragnar trailed behind her, but he kept getting distracted by the vendors selling their wares. In his past life, he hadn't had the opportunity to travel the world, and now he could experience it.

Ororo turned to see if Ragnar was still following her and noticed he was distracted. She was tempted to leave him there, but then she saw people staring at him, their eyes filled with suspicion.

Ororo gritted her teeth, slipping into the crowd and tugging him away from the vendors. "Can you focus? Are you a kid? And can you find something to cover yourself up?"

"I'm twelve, and is there something wrong with how I look?" Ragnar asked, spinning around.

"You're a foreigner," Ororo said after a moment, looking him up and down. "And more importantly, you're alone, an easy target for thieves and groups." She pointed to a man approaching them. "Look, they're here for you."

Ragnar followed her gaze, but he just smiled, waiting. Ororo was different, she began to pull him away.

"Don't use your powers in public," Ororo warned, knowing that Ragnar probably wanted to take out the man.

"I'm just going to ask him for something nice," Ragnar whispered, smiling at her as he patted her hand.

"Boy, co–"

"Can I borrow your turban?" Ragnar interrupted, holding out his hand to the man.

The man, seemingly dazed, handed him the turban, taking it off his own head. He then turned and walked away.

"How is it? Do I still attract attention?" Ragnar asked, covering his head with the turban, then pulling a scarf over his face.

"How many powers do you have?" Ororo asked, her skepticism evident in her voice. She knew something was off, something didn't add up.

Deep down, Ororo knew that he was unlike anyone she'd ever met.

Ororo wondered how many other abilities he possessed. She only knew of her own lightning and wind abilities, but this boy, he was entirely different even for a mutant.

"How about you guess?" Ragnar asked playfully, as he looked down on her hand that was still holding him.

Ororo rolled her eyes, releasing his hand with a jerk. She started to lead him towards their destination.

"Name? What's your name?" Ragnar asked, as he walked by her side. He already knew her name, but he couldn't reveal that without arousing suspicion.

Ororo ignored his question, but her pace quickened. She didn't want Ragnar by her side and she didn't want to give him any more information than she had to.

"Oh come on, I got the feeling we'll be having fun together. So it's better to introduce ourselves, right?" Ragnar said, matching her pace, his smile a little too wide, a little too eager.

'I hope not,' Ororo thought and sighed, realizing she couldn't outrun him. She paused, turning to face him. "Ororo," she said, her voice laced with a touch of resignation. "Ororo Munroe."
