Chapter 20:The Grueling work of farming.

The Grueling Work of Farming

The plot of land near the river was wild and overgrown. Thick weeds blanketed the ground, tangled in stubborn roots and stray rocks. But Yiling didn't flinch. With a hoe in hand and determination in her heart, she began clearing the field.

At first, the children watched curiously, their little faces peeking from behind nearby trees. After a while, Zhi shuffled closer, clutching a stick as if it were his own tool. "Mama, can I help?"

Yiling's heart swelled with pride. She gently took his hand. "Not yet, Zhi'er. You're still small. But if you bring me water and sing while I work, it'll help your mama a lot."

Yun'er, not to be left out, joined with a cheerful tune, her giggles filling the air as she danced with a flower in her hair.

Day after day, Yiling toiled from sunrise to sunset, battling fatigue and soreness. Bit by bit, the land transformed under her relentless efforts. She planted the seeds in neat rows, her hands digging into the rich soil with care.
