Chapter 5: Goodbye

"More than twenty orders?" Rhea Vale was surprised. She rolled her eyes. "I didn't expect to make money after marrying you. This is a pleasant surprise." She shrugged. "You don't have to feel bad. I'm just a virgin giving up my carefree life and marrying into the wolf's den that is your family. So what if my family's company makes more money? I'll compensate you by marrying you then."

Riven Ashford had a new understanding of Rhea Vale. As his new wife, she had a sharp tongue. He took a step forward, his tall body giving off a sense of oppression. "Miss Vale, I'll remind you one last time. Don't have any improper thoughts about me. Otherwise... the price will be too high for you to bear."

Rhea Vale burst out laughing, her clear laughter was as melodious as a wind chime. "Mr. Ashford, aren't you being too narcissistic? Do you think I have improper thoughts about you? What kind of joke is this? I'm young and beautiful. Why would I have improper thoughts about an old man who's eight years older than me? Is it because you think the younger boys don't interest me?"

Riven Ashford's expression did not look too good after being blatantly despised for his age. He reminded her, "Miss Vale, when you marry into the Ashford family, you have to abide by the Ashford family's rules. Every word and action of yours represents the Ashford family's image. I don't want to hear any words that will ruin the Ashford family's reputation."

Rhea Vale waved her hand. "You're really nagging about how old you are. Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. If you came to me to talk nonsense, then you can leave." She did not think that Riven Ashford would be willing to sleep in the same room as her.

Riven Ashford choked. He really came here with an intention. He came to the new house to show Rhea Vale that he was a threat. He wanted to make her stop thinking about certain things. Who would have thought that Rhea Vale would despise him in the end?

When Riven Ashford left the house, he did not look too good. On his way to the study, he happened to meet the family's butler. The butler asked curiously, "Young master, shouldn't you be in the new house at this time? Why are you here?"

Riven Ashford said, "I'm here to see Grandfather."

In the study, Old Master Ashford pointed at the documents and USB flash drive on the table and said to Riven Ashford, "You can take what you want."

Logically speaking, Riven Ashford should have left when he got what he wanted. However, he suddenly stopped and said, "Dad, do you think a forced marriage will lead to happiness?"

Old Master Ashford froze. He sat back down on the chair and looked at Riven Ashford's steady and fierce expression. "Believe me, she is the most suitable person to be your wife."

Riven Ashford laughed mockingly. "I hope so."

Rhea Vale had just changed out of her heavy wedding dress. Before she had the chance to wash up, she heard an argument downstairs. She thought about it and decided to go out to take a look because she had heard Riven Ashford's cheapskate voice!

...

"Young master, tonight is your wedding night. You should be with the young madam. Leaving on your wedding night is bad luck for newlyweds." The butler had heard from the servant that Riven Ashford was going out, so he hurried over to dissuade him.

Coincidentally, Riven Ashford's eldest brother, Travis Ashford, was going out as well. He followed the butler's lead and persuaded him too. "Riven, you are almost 30 years old. Can you not be childish? Rhea is the wife you just married. You have to be responsible for her. If you leave recklessly tonight, how will she be able to hold her head up tomorrow?"

"Brother, you know very well how this marriage came about. I listened to you and got married, but it doesn't mean that I will enter the bride's room. Move aside, don't force me to do it." Riven Ashford was about to leave, but Travis Ashford once again blocked his way. "Riven, Rhea is watching you from the second floor."

Riven Ashford raised his head when he heard that. He just happened to see Rhea Vale smiling and waving at him in her pink pajamas. She mouthed, "Goodbye."

Riven Ashford was speechless.

Riven Ashford snorted coldly. "See? Rhea herself doesn't mind me leaving. Big brother, don't meddle in other people's business." With that, he walked past the silent Travis Ashford and left the Ashford family's old residence.

Travis Ashford's wife, Bella Evans, happened to see this play out. She looked at Rhea Vale coldly. "You can't even keep your own man on your wedding night. Trash."

Rhea Vale cocked her head and looked at Bella Evans, who was standing not far away. She knew that this woman was Travis Ashford's wife and Riven Ashford's sister-in-law. She was not bad-looking and had a good temperament, but she was not very likable.

Rhea Vale smiled and withdrew her hand. She used Riven Ashford's words to rebuke her. "You both know what's going on with this marriage, so... don't be too demanding. Otherwise, before Riven goes back on his word, I'll quit."
