Echoes Of The Demon World (IV)

XORAXYS

I stared at Xanereth and Lady Lyriath who cowered before me, my presence seemingly devouring them.

"So Voriath died?" I asked not expecting an answer, I saw what had happened in the void, I saw Voriath die. I didn't expect it, I did not expect any of it. A human defeating a high tier demon is unheard of.

"My Lord." Xanereth began. "Please reduce your energy output. The demon world weeps."

I sighed, I reduced the intensity of my aura as something began to form a few 100 meters away from us. I saw it take shape, take form and Voriath respawned in the demon world with his back on the ground.

"I see you've returned. How was your time in hell?" I asked, my blood boiling. I was angry at his failure.

"It was as the name of the place sounded, hell. The devils has things they had to say but they didn't." He replied with a respectful tone.

"They better not. They only exist because I allow them to. Their pitiful existences wouldn't be able to withstand the full force of the demon world even if they had every devil intact." I raged.

"My king, you need to calm down. I promise you that I will get stronger and I shall make sure to put the human that made us an object of ridicule out of his misery." Voriath promised his eyes determined and serious.

"I believe you." I replied, my eyes of truth glaring at him.

"My Lord," Lady Lyriath started, "what shall we do about the human?"

"We should let him be for now. He knows we're coming for him but he doesn't know when." Xanereth answered in my stead.

"Yes, he doesn't know when we'll attack." I agreed. "So for now, we shall continue to watch until we can find a weakness of some sort from him."

"I'm not sure we can my king." Voriath said to me.

"And why do you think that?" I asked. I had watched the fight but didn't think the same way as Voriath who had witnessed the human's strength himself.

"I saw a human who was able to breathe in the confines of outer space, a human who was able to affect the Nirguna entirely, a human who was able to withstand my erasure." Voriath stated. "My king, do you think such a human would have any limitations?"

"You do have a point. But then again, he's human. He should have relationships that would keep him tied down. You do know that that is the downfall of all humans." I replied.

"Agreed my king." Voriath left as he said that.

"Xanereth, watch that human until you find out any sort of weakness from him."

"Yes my king."

ASHER BLACKWOOD

The days went by after the demons' attack on the Academy. The buildings were rebuilt with magic but what happened could not be erased from the minds of the people.

I went to class like nothing happened but the teachers always referenced the event to spur us on to get stronger.

"Asher, how're you feeling?" Prince Arin asked me as I walked out of class.

"I'm alright, how have you been?"

"I'm alright for the most part, my father made preparations to get the best mages to protect the school from the demons."

"That's a good initiative." I said to him, he turned around and bade me farewell whilst I continued my walk towards my room.

Victor and I weren't in the same class for the last period and I think his class was closer to the dorm building.

I knocked and then walked in, Victor was on his bunk reading a novel as usual.

"What's the name of that book? You're always so engrossed in it." I asked, my tone inquisitive.

"It's called The Eminence In Shadow." Victor replied with his head and chin up, showing an overconfident child.

"What's it about?"

"You'll have to read it for yourself to find out." He laughed as he laid back down and continued reading.

I laughed as well as I went to the bathroom to take my bath. When I came out, I was shocked at who I saw.

"Well, I told her you weren't here but she insisted on waiting." Victor said, smiling as he scratched the back of his head.

I was naked from the waist up. When I looked at Aethera's face, it was beet red.

"A-Asher?!" She shouted and covered her face in embarrassment.

"What is it you want?" I asked, smiling as I got my clothes out of the shelf.

"I just came to check up on you, to see how you're doing." She said, her face still covered in her hands.

"As you can see, I'm fine." I laughed. "Wait for a few minutes, let me put something on." I walked into the bathroom again to get changed.

Whilst in the bathroom I overheard Victor laughing and Aethera screeching. I smiled just imagining what they were talking about.

"-like him that much?" I heard as I came out of the bathroom. Aethera didn't reply as I got out but I already knew what Victor had asked.

I took a hold of her hand.

"Wh-what are you doing?!" She asked, alarmed, her face redder than a strawberry.

"Let's go get some fresh air." I said as Victor winked at me. I opened the door and dragged her out alongside me.

SOMEWHERE IN THE JARDEL CONTINENT

A black hooded figure walked out of a building and then just vanished into thin air. He appears again in an underground shrine.

"My Lord priest, I have gathered all the materials necessary for the summoning." He said to someone else putting on a black hood, sitting on what seemed like a throne.

"Your work is greatly appreciated." He replied.

"The demons' attack on the Silvermist Academy was expected, and it seems that they were thwarted by the students and teachers at the academy."

"I see, establish contact immediately. Let us see what the devils have to say about this."
