Chapter 3.1 - My Boy

"We will definitely be better off without him."

"He was so clueless it was borderline narcissistic." And more giggles.

Adam found the cowards, his former closest friends talking shit about him in his funeral.

"I'll talk to his uncle later to see if I get him to invest in my app." Said his best friend since high school.

In his veins the blood was so hot it felt like he was boiling from the inside out.

"Shh!" A feminine voice came from behind, leading them to a momentary panic attack. "This is not the place."

The group parted to make way for a tall young woman, all dressed in black who whispered under a white tissue. She moved to the front, catching the immediate attention of Adam's parents.

Holding back for a second she whispered with her mouth covered.

"Drinks on me tonight."

Without hesitation, the woman walked right through the God's soul. On her way to the first roll, she kept whipping her dry eyes as she whimpered in a terrible act.

Adam was so furious he wouldn't dare to move. From the back he watched the woman who betrayed him attempt to hug his mother as if she didn't do anything that night.

"I can't believe you had the nerve to come here…" Helena raised her arm to keep Jenifer from touching her.

"Even if you don't believe me, I had to come." The sick twisted girl was pretending to dry her tears, but was just hiding her cheap act. "Adam meant everything to me..."

"It's disrespectful that you have come here, Jenifer. Leave and never come near my family or my company again." Helena was angry at the girl but not because Adam died, but because she used his good heart and played with his feelings that were genuine.

"Finn was delusional on that night, Helena, he had been drinking and using drugs. He always liked me but I loved Adam so he tried to separate us!"

The girl had nerve, she was trying to pin everything on Finn when he had told the whole truth.

Adam felt ashamed for what he had done because of a woman so shallow, and even worse, he felt embarrassed for ever having loved her.

The trees dropped more leaves, even though there was no wind blowing at them.

In the middle of that filth, Adam strained every muscle, his fury and frustration threatening to blast forth. The force he was using to keep it all inside was so intense that it began to affect the very ground beneath him.

On the back the little group was still hiding stifling giggles, while the other viper was abusing his family compassion.

A tremor miles deep got people to fuzz around in their seats. At the front, his grandma had to be helped by someone behind her, not to fall off her chair.

Alerted to the risk his family would be exposed to if he freaked out like he did with the God's, Adam closed his eyes. Against his nature, he relaxed his shoulders forcing himself to let go of his anger for the time being.

Few seconds went on before the shaking stopped completely.

The chatter got louder and Adam ran to check on his family.

Jenifer was still too close, trying to appear worried while his mother was talking to the elderly lady.

"Jenifer, you better leave or I'll call security." Helena's voice was severe enough to scare the cheater away.

Turning her attention to who really mattered, Helena continued.

"Maybe we should take you home, mother..."

"No! I want to say goodbye to my boy."

Famous for her firm words, the woman stood up pushing everyone aside so she could stand on her own.

A sad smile blinked on Adam's lips as he walked by his grandmother's side. At the coffin she put her hand over it and the boy felt her touch for a moment.

"Grandma is gonna miss you but don't' you worry."

Ever since he was a little kid, Adam always wondered how his grandma always knew how he was feeling. Even when she was in a different dimension, she still understood him better than he understood himself.

"Just find your peace, my boy."

Unexpectedly, his sight became blurry, driving him to rub his eyes so as not to miss one second of that moment. As she closed her eyes, Adam felt when her tears damped the grass just as another tremor, stronger than the other, shook the ground beneath them.

With low mobility, the old lady fell with the force of the Earth. Right by her side, Adam tried to hold her but she passed through his ghostly arms.

The moment the Earth God's hand got in contact with the soil he knew.

It was not an earthquake, something big was causing the tremor and it wasn't him.

"Adam!" Calder's voice struck like thunder. "I warned you."

Clouds closed the skies, turning day into night in the blink of an eye. People started to scream and stumble on chairs, while trying to leave.

"Someone help them!"

Before his eyes, his family was on the ground trying to hold on to anything that would allow them to stand up. He was yelling for help but no one besides Calder could hear him. That was when the Water God landed to address Adam who was watching over his family.

"Stop this Adam, or they'll get hurt!"

Desperate, the Young God turned to Calder with wet eyes. It wasn't him but he didn't know what was causing it.

"Do something!" Adam was begging for help.

Suddenly, among the chaos, the tremor stopped.

Everyone went quiet. Calder and Adam exchanged looks. They knew it wasn't over.
