Season 8: The Avalon Academy Exam
The exam for Avalon Academy had begun, and tension filled the air. The stakes were high—whoever scored the highest would be promoted to the next class. Yet, Theodore wasn't the least bit nervous.
The exam was divided into two parts:
• Theory – A written test evaluating knowledge and comprehension.
• Practical – A combat duel between classmates.
For the first time since arriving at Avalon, Theodore knew he had to take things seriously. If he wanted to get closer to the main character and the lead roles, he needed to reach Class S—the highest-ranking class in the academy.
The Theory Exam Begins
As expected, Theodore breezed through the written test effortlessly.
"Is this it? This isn't a big deal at all. It's way too easy," he muttered to himself.
"Well, you were a scientist in your past life. What did you expect?" Bryan, his friend, remarked with a smirk.
Before Theodore could respond, a voice interrupted.
With a sigh, Theodore stood up.
Hey, Creed. The Dean wants to see you."
I'm coming," Theodore responded nonchalantly.
Meeting with the Dean
Inside the Dean's office, an elderly man with sharp eyes observed Theodore carefully.
"Hmm… It looks like your core has finally awakened. That's really good," the Dean said.
"Oh, you noticed?" Theodore smirked.
"Of course, I did. I wouldn't be the Dean of such a prestigious academy if I couldn't tell when a student's core had awakened."
The Dean then sighed.
"Still, I advise you to drop out of the practical exam. You just awakened, so let's train your core first before others find out."
Theodore's smirk widened.
"Who said I just awakened my core?"
The Dean chuckled.
"That's more like it. Are you really my grandson?"
"I am… but not the grandson you used to know."
The Dean paused for a moment before smiling.
"I hope this new grandson of mine won't forget his grandfather after everything that happened."
This time, Theodore's smile was genuine.
"Of course not."
Unlike how he treated others in the academy, he truly meant it. The Dean had been the only person who stood by Creedison until the very end.
"So, what are you going to do now? Should I inform your family that your core has awakened? Your father might accept you back."
Theodore's expression darkened.
"Family? I don't remember having one. I only have you, Grandpa."
The Dean, clearly flustered, turned away.
"You may take your leave now," he said, trying to hide his emotions.
Theodore smirked as he walked out.
"Lebroc—the sword master, one of the greatest heroes during Angelica's era. Having him on my side will definitely yield results. He's sincere… unlike that bastard Reign."
The Practical Exam Begins
The theory exam ended, and now it was time for the practical portion. As always, students couldn't resist mocking creedison .
"Look at that. The coreless fool didn't quit this time."
"This is going to be fun! Is he trying to get himself killed?"
"What luck—to be fighting an opponent like Creedison. He'll lose in seconds!"
Theodore ignored them all. His first opponent stepped onto the stage, grinning smugly.
"You better give up, Creedison. You can't win."
His opponent immediately launched an explosive attack.
A loud BOOM echoed through the arena.
As the dust settled, Theodore stood there, completely unharmed. He smirked.
"Wow… for someone who talks a lot, that attack was quite lame."
Before his opponent could react, Theodore flipped his finger and unleashed a lightning strike using Qi energy instead of mana.
From that moment, Theodore dominated every fight. He kept winning and winning, shocking the entire crowd.
"What?! He awakened his core already?!"
"But how is he this strong?"
"He might still be possessed by the demon!"
Some students hesitated.
"Huh? I wouldn't be too sure. The academy already confirmed that the ritual was halted. He isn't possessed."
The Dean, watching from the stands, was speechless.
"How… how did he get so strong?" Professor Marcus muttered.
"He must be possessed!"
Professor Cullen shook his head.
"No. I tried checking if he was using dark mana, but he wasn't. In fact, what he used is even purer than mana. I'm sure even the Dean is shocked."
Professor Cullen narrowed his eyes.
"That only leaves one possibility… He was hiding his powers."
The Dean clenched his fists.
"So that's what he meant in my office yesterday. Oh, Creedison… I am so proud of you."
Meanwhile, Bryan smirked.
"Looks like they're all shocked."
Balboas crossed his arms.
"Who wouldn't be? He's a complete monster. He didn't even use much of his Qi or aura."
Angelica tilted her head.
"By the way, why aren't you using mana? Instead, you're relying on Qi."
"Oh, that… Using mana might trigger my dark mana. I must not use it until I can fully control it."
"I see…"
The Final Duel: Theodore vs. Elijah Clayman
Theodore had defeated five of the thugs who bullied him. Only one opponent remained—Elijah Clayman, the top student of Class D.
Elijah grinned.
"Yes! This is what I've been waiting for!"
Bryan chuckled.
"Hmm… That kid is pretty strong for a student."
Balboas shook his head.
"Yeah… but that won't be enough."
Elijah stepped forward, brandishing his sword.
"Give up, Creed. There's no way you can win against me! I'm not like those weaklings you've been beating."
Elijah lunged at Theodore, slashing with deadly precision.
But Theodore effortlessly dodged every single attack.
"You bastard! Is dodging all you can do?!"
Theodore smirked.
"Nope."
"Lightning Strike."
A massive lightning bolt crashed into Elijah, sending him flying. The force was on a completely different level compared to the attacks Theodore had used before.
Elijah coughed up blood.
"S-So you were hiding your skill all along!"
Theodore cracked his knuckles.
"Yup. And I'm not done with you yet."
The next thing Elijah knew, Theodore was pummeling him into the ground.
"I GIVE UP! I GIVE UP!"
"I SAID I GIVE UP, YOU BASTARD!"
And with that, the exam was over.
The Results
Theodore scored the highest in both the theory and practical exams, surpassing all expectations. He was placed into Class C.
However, as expected, the main character got first place in Class S again.
Theodore scoffed.
"I mean, it doesn't make sense. How will he ever get stronger if he keeps winning so easily?"
Bryan smirked.
"Just admit you're jealous."
Theodore clicked his tongue.
"I am NOT jealous. It just doesn't make sense… But don't worry. I'll correct that."
His eyes gleamed with determination.
"Once I win next term's school competition, I'll make it into Class S. And when I do… I'll make sure that so-called 'main character' never gets to the top again."
Theodore smirked.
"Next term is going to be fun."
