Chapter 8

As if afraid Gunner might let something slip, Seraphina returned in a flash.

She was carrying soy milk, her breathing slightly hurried.

"Alec, I got sweet and plain."

"I bought both."

"Which one would you like to drink today?"

I shook my head, "I don't want any now."

Seraphina paused for a moment, then placed the milk on the table.

"No worries, you can have it later."

"I'll heat it up for you if it gets cold."

She spoke with gentle consideration, but Gunner curled his lip.

He turned his head away irritably, letting out a contemptuous snort.

Seraphina turned to look at him, "You can leave now."

Gunner had been coming around more and more frequently.

I could clearly sense that Seraphina's attitude towards him was gradually improving.

Perhaps Seraphina had always had feelings for him, which is why she could tolerate his repeated appearances.

They used the guise of friendship to act shamelessly in my home.
