Carnations are beautiful too, I love them, and River loved them as well.
I thought for a long time before slowly beginning to speak, gradually recounting our past together.
Finally, I placed the carnations in front of that gravestone.
Looking back, I saw a sea of nameless tombstones covering the hillside.
I unfolded our wedding photo album and smiled as I spoke to my River:
"This lifetime is too short, it's not enough."
"In our next life, let's meet earlier. You'll come pursue me, and I'll say yes. We'll be the most ordinary married couple in the world, growing old together from youth to old age."
In the photo, River's eyes were crinkled in a smile, as if agreeing with me.
He said:
"Alright."
