Chapter 15: A New Beginning in the Kingdom

After passing the trial of strength, Ares was taken to the royal palace for an official evaluation. He now sat in a grand hall adorned with golden banners, facing a long table where the king himself sat at the head.

King (calmly but with authority): "So, you are the sole survivor of the trial?"

Ares lifted his head and looked directly at the king. He knew that any mistake here could cost him his life.

Ares: "Yes, Your Majesty."

The king glanced at his advisors before returning his gaze to Ares.

King: "You have shown remarkable strength, but that does not mean you can stay here without a purpose. The kingdom needs strong warriors, not wanderers without loyalty."

Ares knew this moment was crucial. If he failed to prove his worth, he might end up exiled—or worse, imprisoned.

Ares: "I do not seek to live here aimlessly. If you allow it, I wish to join the knights and grow stronger."

Silence filled the room for a moment before one of the commanders at the table chuckled.

Commander (mockingly): "You want to become a knight? That is not something so easily achieved, boy."

But the king did not smile. Instead, he studied Ares carefully before speaking.

King: "Very well. I will give you a chance. There is a dangerous task that requires someone who does not fear death… If you succeed, I will consider allowing you to join."

Ares felt his heartbeat quicken, but he hid his unease.

Ares: "What is the task?"

The king stood from his seat and gestured toward the map hanging behind him.

King: "A great dragon has been threatening the kingdom for years. We have tried to slay it many times, but to no avail. If you truly wish to prove yourself, go there… and kill it."

Ares' eyes widened. He knew that slaying a dragon was no easy feat, but he had no choice.

Ares (firmly): "I will do it."

Little did he know, this mission would mark the true beginning of his legend…
