Volume 2 Chapter 49: The Final Preparations Before the End (Part 1)

Hiss, hiss

Since ancient times, when people looked up at the sky, perhaps they have imagined that one day, at some moment, terrifying disasters would descend from those distant stars.

The great red dragon that carries one-third of the stars falling from the sky to the mortal world.

In various myths from different regions, when many celestial gods reside above the various stars and order the destruction of the mortal world, one can perhaps see people's attitudes.

From God's great flood to Laozi opening the gate of heaven and descending to cleanse the world of the five turbidities, leaving only those with yellow talismans alive.

People always fear the sky and the gods who reside there. At the same time, they worship those gods, holding great curiosity about the unknown and the forces hidden in the depths of the sky.

Regardless of east or west, north or south, it's always been the same.

And now, their thoughts are being answered.

From beyond the sky, the Ghidorah's Wings are about to descend upon the mortal world.

They will bring about the end.

And this time, humanity will resist to the end.

North America, the Middle East, Western Europe, East Asia...

Almost all of humanity's industrial power has been transformed into countless super-electromagnetic guns in the past few dozen days.

Billions of tons of steel have all been put to use, and the robotic laborers have not stopped building defensive structures.

From towering mountains to flat plains, the super-electromagnetic guns are ready, aimed at the sky.

Millions of nuclear bombs are loaded onto the thousands of satellites orbiting the Earth, representing humanity's strongest force from ancient times.

The deployment of Oxygen Destroyers goes without saying. After the Ghidorah's Wings accelerated their approach, the production of Oxygen Destroyers also hastened.

More and more Oxygen Destroyers were transported worldwide. It's not an exaggeration to say that humanity's reserves of them are enough to kill all life on this planet, including bacteria.

The lunar space station turned away from the approaching Ghidorah Wing, and the surveillance satellites it left behind in lunar orbit measured the distance to the Ghidorah's wings. It obtained a series of more accurate data than all previous measurements, including the true number of Ghidorah's wings, their current positions, the estimated time of arrival (to the minute), the landing points of each wave, and the number of Ghidorah's wings in each.

All of this was meticulously mapped out by humanity.

The satellites locked onto the glowing spots where the cluster of Ghidorah's wings were.

As they approached and decelerated, the golden sheen reflected by the Ghidorah's wings from the sunlight made them shine brightly, visible even on the ground.

"Mama, look, another star appeared."

A little girl sitting in the evacuating car pointed happily toward the direction of Venus through the window at night.

These few days were the happiest days of her life. Her mother and father, who had been away for a long time, returned to her side, taking her and her grandparents on a "trip" together. It had been so long since something like this had happened.

"Yes, another star appeared, darling. It's time for you to sleep. We still have to line up tomorrow."

Her mother stroked her little head, mustering a smile on her tired face. Then she pulled out a tissue and wiped the corners of her slightly swollen eyes.

"Mama, I don't want to line up. I want to sleep in bed..."

Upon hearing this, the little girl pouted. Her watery eyes looked at her mother, hoping to persuade her to take her to another hotel and sleep somewhere else, just like before.

And after hearing these words, her mother suddenly remembered something, tears streaming down her face. She hugged her tightly, whispering softly:

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."

She was apologizing, which frightened the five or six-year-old girl, who felt a bit confused. It was her first time experiencing her mother acting like this.

She didn't know what her mother was apologizing for, so she clumsily wiped away her mother's tears with her small hands.

And this scene, under this starry sky, had already happened many times.

The goddess of beauty hung high in the sky, beside her, different from the satellites, were flickering spots of light.

On Earth's nights, apart from the river of satellites that filled the sky, the small clusters of golden light were also very conspicuous.

The evacuation on the ground continued, with vehicles lining up and stretching to the horizon, and transport planes in the sky continuously moving toward the shelters, even after nightfall.

Whether it was day or night, outside the shelters hollowed out of the mountains, there was always a steady stream of people trying to enter, even at 3 or 4 in the morning, under the incandescent light, you could still see crowds.

The evacuation of all humanity was not as smooth as the defensive preparations.

...

[Middle East: 95%.]

[Europe: 60%.]

[East Asia: 45%.]

[Americas: 35%.]

[Africa: 25%.]

[Regional Retreat Rate: 52%, Global Population Retreat Rate: 43%]

"Less than half... This is too little. At this rate, we can only hope that the Ghidorah's Wings will show mercy."

Someone muttered to themselves.

Too little, too little time, and too slow. At this rate, before the arrival of the Ghidorah's Wings, they could evacuate at most sixty to sixty-five percent of humanity.

And the remaining forty percent would require strict time management to evacuate the majority of the population.

Even if the plan was executed perfectly, there would still be billions of people unable to evacuate.

If the Ghidorah's Wings attacked a shelter...

What about the hundreds of thousands of people outside?

Would they all die?

"We've done our best."

Some said humanity had done its best. Building shelters for the entire human race and cramming over fifteen billion people into them in just 5 or 6 days was already a miracle.

They couldn't expect miracles to happen continuously.

"F***ing Godzilla."

Others cursed the other monster. If it weren't for it, if it weren't for its actions, why would they be touching Ghidorah now? Why would the Ghidorah's Wings awaken?

Even if, stepping back, assuming the Ghidorah's Wings did wake up, they would still have time to evacuate the global population.

Instead of exposing so many people like this.

In his view, all the tragedies now were caused by that monster!

Hope, despair, sadness, regret, lamentation, and luck...

In various human command rooms, all of this was classified as data, simplified and displayed on large screens.

And also displayed on the large screens was another set of data.

[Estimated Arrival Time of Ghidorah's Wings:]

[First Wave: UTC Time, May 13th, 6:24 AM, landing in the Middle East and North Africa, estimated quantity: 14.]

[Second Wave: UTC Time, May 13th, 10:31 PM, landing in East Asia, estimated quantity: 23.]

[Third Wave: UTC Time, May 15th, 1:17 AM, landing in North America, estimated quantity: 21.]

[Fourth Wave: UTC Time, May 16th, 6:42 AM, landing in Northern Europe, estimated quantity: 13.]

[Total Number of Ghidorah's Wings: 71, with a fluctuation of 20 minutes in arrival time.]

[Time Remaining Until the First Wave of Ghidorah's Wings: 28 hours, 52 minutes, 17 seconds.]

With only 29 hours left, the war that would determine the future of humanity, no, the future of this planet, was about to begin.
