I Don't Want To Lose You

All the rest of the day, I try and repeatedly fail to convince Lucian to let me call off this fight before it ends in his death, but Lucian is gentle but firm. He refuses to be convinced of anything. The only things he wants to talk about are the plans for the nursery and what I want to eat for lunch and dinner.

The hours tick by far faster than I want them to, and as the sky darkens, his pack arrives, Orion included. As I pace the kitchen, they sit eating Chinese takeout at the dining table while talking about going for a pack run over the weekend.

I struggle to understand how plans like a pack run could take precedence over this looming fight, a fight that will end in Lucian's death.

"Lucian, please. I don't want you to do this," I say to him as we leave for the clearing that night.
