After receiving permission from their father, Rosalena, Airna, and her maid boarded a luxurious carriage, heading toward the empire's most prestigious dress boutique.
Rosalena gazed out of the window, taking in the bustling streets and golden sunlight spilling over the grand buildings. The sight filled her with joy—this world, despite its dangers, was beautiful.
Airna, noticing her unusual excitement, hesitated before speaking. "Sister… why are you like this?" Her voice was small, uncertain. "You've always ignored me because Father adopted me… Since I'm an illegitimate child. But this is the first time you've taken me anywhere with you. I'm so happy, sister. I've always loved you."
Hearing this, Rosalena turned to Airna and gave her a gentle smile.
When they arrived at the noble dress boutique, all eyes turned to them. This was no ordinary shop—it belonged to the empire's most famous designer, someone who only made dresses for Rosalena. No matter how high their status, no other noblewoman could commission a gown from her.
As soon as Rosalena stepped inside, the designer rushed forward with excitement. "My lady, I've prepared my latest designs just for you!"
Rosalena nodded, then gestured toward Airna. "This is my sister. Show her some dresses as well. Take her measurements—we need something stunning for the Crown Prince's birthday ball."
The designer hesitated for a moment before bowing. "Of course, my lady. I will create the most mesmerizing dresses for you both."
After selecting their gowns, Rosalena and Airna left the shop and made their way to a nearby café. Sitting by the window, they sipped coffee and enjoyed delicate pastries, relishing the peaceful moment.
Suddenly, a loud voice rang through the café.
"ROSALEEEENAAAAAA!"
Rosalena turned her head in surprise, just in time to see a girl rushing toward her. Within seconds, she was pulled into a tight embrace.
It was Mariyana, the daughter of a Count and Rosalena's childhood best friend. She had always supported Rosalena in everything—but she never liked Airna.
Mariyana pulled back, gripping Rosalena's shoulders. "How's your health, Rosalena? Are you alright? Why did you jump into the pond? Don't tell me… Was it because of the Crown Prince?"
Rosalena sighed, shaking her head. "I don't remember anything, Mariyana."
Mariyana frowned, clearly displeased. Then, her eyes lit up. "Did you get an invitation to the ball, Rosee?"
Rosalena smiled at the nickname. "Yes, that's why we went shopping today."
Mariyana's gaze suddenly shifted to Airna, her expression souring. "Then why did you bring her?"
Rosalena met her friend's gaze firmly. "Because she's my sister. I bought her a dress for the ball."
Mariyana sighed dramatically. "Fine, fine. I'll see you at the ball then, Rosee! Bye-bye!" She waved cheerfully before hurrying off.
Rosalena chuckled to herself. It was good to see her old friend again.
With their shopping complete, Rosalena and Airna climbed back into the carriage and headed home, the grand mansion awaiting their return.
