Also, 'Peter-Kun'? Man, did he hate how that word sounded, he was thankful she caught on to him not liking honorifics without even telling her.
"What'd you say? Sorry, I was thinking about something." He dug his hand into his pockets when a chilly breezy came by, god he hated winter.
...
She stopped floating and planted herself on the ground, being below eye level to the boy since he was 5'7. Peter noticed how she took on a serious expression, it looked like a puppy trying to not look cuddly.
"When you showed me those wrist things and rolled down your sleeve… Were those scars from… you know." She asked, looking up at him with a concerned expression. Peter looked down at her in confusion until he understood what she was trying to say and decided to shut that whole thing down.
"What?! No! They're not from… that! Look, I used to do some vigilante stuff a while back, I got hurt sometimes. That's where they're from." Peter could only sigh in relief as the blue-haired girl visibly relaxed after hearing that.
"Oh, thank goodness! Wait, did you say you were a vigilante? Oh wow! You should tell me about all the stuff you did!" She said, already bouncing up in excitement at asking all about his vigilante past.
Peter could only sigh, how could someone just switch topics so quickly?
"Maybe after the exam? Oh, and by the way, where's Rumi? did she run ahead or something?" They had been walking with the girl until about a bit ago when she randomly disappeared into the crowd.
Before she could answer, a shouting match came was heard about 60 feet in front of them. Peter and Nejire walked closer only to see a tanned girl with rabbit ears yelling profanities at a guy with crimson eyes and spiky ash-blonde hair who was yelling said profanities right back.
"Oh, you gotta be fucking kidding me." Peter groaned and dragged his cold hands through his face at the sight of none other than Katsuki 'sparky-sparky-boom-boom' Bakugo. Cause why wouldn't he be here?
"Oh, I wonder what's going on over there. Hey. do you know that spiky-haired guy? He seems to have a temper!" Nejire said from beside him.
"He's a guy I used to know in high school, kind of a dick but if you ignore him he goes away." Peter tightened his grip on his backpack strap and walked forward towards the two, Nejire following with her hands behind her back.
Sadly, Rumi was doing the direct opposite of ignoring him.
"You bumped into me, asshole!" She yelled, her ears folded angrily.
Bakugo sneered, small crackles and pops coming from his palms that were at his side. "The fuck did you just call me, bunny ears?!"
"I called you an asshole, dumbass! Who the fuck do you think you are?!" She stabbed a gloved finger into his chest, the ash-blonde's eyes narrowed in anger.
"Who the fuck do I think I am?! The next number one hero, you loser! Now get the fuck outta my way, extra!" He was about to push past her but Rumi stood her ground.
Alright, they were having an outright screaming match now, and people were starting to stare. What a way to start off the day, huh?
Rumi was about to say something back at Bakugo, but she stopped when they both noticed Peter and Nejire walking up to them. Bakugo's attention was instantly drawn to his old classmate, completely forgetting about the girl in front of him.
"You! What the fuck do you think you're doing at this school, huh?! You think you're better than me?!" He grabbed his collar, and Peter grabbed his wrist in return. The two stared each other down through narrowed eyes.
"Back off, man. We're just trying to take the exam like everyone else." Peter started calmly, both of their grips on each other tightened.
The 'explosion' user drew his face near to the brunette's, gritting his teeth as he did so. "If you think you can be better than me maybe you should copy Deku and give up on that idea while you're ahead, American." He growled, his grip tightening even more, the small sparks on his palms grew larger by the second.
"He's gonna be a support engineer, and like it or not he's gonna help more people like you." Peter drew his face closer, crimson eyes glared back at brown ones. "Quirk or no quirk."
They stared each other down, Peter's Spider-Sense was becoming louder and louder by the second. They were drawing in a crowd now, yet the two stayed locked where they were, daring the other one to let go first.
"We all have somewhere to be, so how about you walk away, Kacchan ?" He smirked when he saw Bakugo's eyebrow twitch, seeing the teen seethe brought a special type of warmth to his heart.
Not a second later, Bakugo scoffed and let go of the brunette's collar, Peter doing the same with his wrist. "Just stay the fuck out of my way, I can't afford to be slowed down by extras like you, Parker." He spat, turning around and stomping away with hands in his pockets.
'How did Midoriya deal with that for 11 years and still want to be his friend?' He thought to himself as he rolled his wrist, the crowd started to dissipate now.
"Who the fuck was that guy? You know him or somethin'? Rumi asked from beside him, the trio had already started to walk closer to the auditorium.
"We went to the same middle school until I had to do online, he went around being a dick and people let him get away with it cause he had a strong quirk. He also used to bully my friend for being quirkless, let's just say I don't really like him that much." Peter told her, they were entering the auditorium now.
"What a douche…" Rumi scoffed, the trio walked until reaching a row of empty seats and sitting down. The whole room looked like a college classroom with descending rows of seats. Difference was that the only light source came from a giant screen up the front that wasn't displaying anything.
About 5 minutes passed of the students in the auditorium simply murmuring and talking to each other, waiting for some kind of adult to show up and tell them what was going on.
Wait, didn't scarf man work at UA? What if he was doing the announcements? Oh man, that'd be hilarious! But it'd be weird for an underground hero to do public speaking, right? Peter wond-
"Welcome, listeners! To the UA entrance exam! Can I get a 'YEAAAHH'?!?!" A male voice thundered across the room, Peter and Rumi winced at the volume due to their enhanced hearing. The source of the voice was a man with incredibly long blonde hair that was wearing leather and sunglasses. He had appeared out of nowhere and was now standing behind a desk under the screen.
Peter couldn't help but feel bad at how no one responded to the man's attempt to hype up the room.
He cleared his throat and continued. "I will be your announcer, Present Mic! Are y'all ready for this?!?!" He boomed once again, the sound echoing across the room.
The only response he got was a deafening silence.
Oh man, that was just sad! Peter turned his head and saw that even Nejire cringed at the response he got. Rumi was trying to hold her laughter in at the man embarrassing himself.
Yikes, she was brutal.
"Alright, Listeners! I know all of you must be just itching to get to the practical, right? Well, too bad! Take out the pencils you've been provided under the table and get ready for the written exam!!" A collective groan echoed across the room, If peter didn't know any better he'd say this guy was doing the written exam first as punishment.
Peter sighed and grabbed the pencil under the table, a robot went down the aisles and gently placed a test in front of every student. A timer counting down from 90 minutes appeared on the screen, dimming the room in a slightly red light due to the numbers.
"Now that you have your tests, get started! It's a hero's job to do well in school, kids!" Present Mic boomed once again, Peter had to resist the urge to outright cringe again at the sentence.
Whatever! He could think about how lame and loud the guy was later! Right now, he had a test to do!
