Chapter 2:Towards Dawn

Kael had woken up in despair again and started wandering through the ruined city. There were only a few people, if they could even be called people. He entered the only inn with lights on nearby. Everyone was staring at Kael. He sat across from the bartender. A woman with short blonde hair, medium height, and purple eyes came to him and said:

"Welcome, sir, what would you like?"

Kael replied, "One beer, please, with some goose meat on the side."

"Of course, right away! Is there anything else you'd like?"

"No, that's all."

Kael began to watch the children playing on the street through the window. Just then...

Someone shouted, "Hide!"

The door suddenly opened, and everyone quickly turned their faces away from it.

Six large knights entered. They walked over to Kael. The inn fell silent.

The large knight: "Hey girl, two beers and a pie, now!"

"Right away, sir..."

The woman brought the drinks to Kael first. The men started muttering, and the largest one said:

"Hey you, who gave you permission to eat before us?" He spoke in an angry tone.

He grabbed Kael by the neck. Then, he took the beer from the table and poured it over Kael's head mockingly. Everyone in the inn focused on Kael. Time seemed to stop. The woman was in shock, and the beer she had brought spilled to the floor. The large man got angrier and slammed his hand on the table, grabbing the woman by the throat and starting to choke her. Her father, unsure of what to do, nervously shouted for help. Just then, the sound of a sword cutting through the air echoed through the inn. Before anyone could understand what happened, the man's hand fell to the floor. Then, a second cutting sound, and the man's head fell into the beer mug. Blood splattered onto the other five knights, who ran away in fear before wetting themselves.

As the tension in the inn rose, a tense, strained voice broke the deadly silence:

The woman (in shock): "Th-thank you..."

Kael took the purse from the decapitated man.

He shrugged, handed the purse to the woman, and added, "Keep the rest."

The woman: "Um, sir, how can I repay your kindness? If you'd like, we can host you in our inn tonight."

Kael: "Thanks, just being kind is enough," he smirked.

He wiped his sword on the blood-stained ground, sheathed it, and with a cold expression on his face, walked away from the inn. Dawn had already broken. Covered in blood, he set off on his way with heavy steps.
