Kai wasn't sure what to make of the girl in front of him. The moment she spoke, his brain stumbled over itself.
'Did she had just say the words "chance" and "hit" in the same sentence?' his thoughts were still processing when she suddenly laughed.
"I'm just kidding." Her tone was light, teasing. Then, with an amused smile, she added.
"But seriously, you should watch the way you look at women. The way you stare can be... intense."
Kai blinked, his expression flattening.
"Uhh...Sorry. I didn't mean to. I Won't do it again."
There was a short pause between them, then she chuckled again, shaking her head.
"Wow. Didn't expect that." Her eyes held a glint of curiosity.
"The number one Seeker, actually apologizing. I gotta say, I imagined you being a bit more... you know, arrogant. The way you carry yourself, you seemed like more of a badass."
Kai exhaled through his nose as the thought hit him.
'Oh yeah. Right. The persona.'
It was something he had built carefully—at first to escape clashing with Griffin, which sounded more like a death match rather than a sparring match . But right now? He wasn't feeling like the usual Kai Draven. Not with everything looming over him. His usual confidence had been chipped away, leaving something more... restless.
She studied him for a moment, then tilted her head. "Mind if I sit?"
He glanced at the spot next to him, then shrugged.
"Sure."
She sat down smoothly, her gaze flickering over the room before settling on him again.
"Name's Ira..." she said, introducing herself.
"...Dont bothe introducing yourself, I'm well aware who you are."
Kai turned his gaze over to her slightly.
"you know me?"
"Of course." she replied, grinning.
"Kai Draven. The number one seeker. The strongest."
Kai smirked awkwardly, knowing the truth behind her statement.
"Umm...Wish I knew you, too."
"Don't worry." she said lightly.
"I prefer staying in the shadows... it's more of my niche."
A brief silence settled between them. The sounds of the others moving in the distance, the faint murmurs of conversation, the occasional sounds of the honking city rang on and about —it all blended together into background noise.
"So...the reclamation mission is tomorrow, huh?....I must say, I thought I'd be excited or something, but really, I feel more like I'm..."
"...fucking terrified." Kai cut in.
Ira stilled, caught off guard by the honesty. It was what she wanted, but nat what she had expected. Then, she laughed—a short, surprised sound.
"That wasn't the answer I was expecting from the strongest Seeker."
Kai leaned forward slightly, his forearms resting against his knees.
"That's the thing." he muttered.
"Everyone thinks being a sorcerer is just cool and powerful. They think training makes them ready. But the battlefield? The real battlefield?" He shook his head.
"It's different."
Ira's eyes lingered on him, something unreadable in her expression.
His hands clenched.
"Even with my experience as a sorcerer, even knowing what I'm capable of... I still feel it. That fear."
Silence stretched between them again.
Then, after a while, Kai sighed.
"Probably scaring you right now, aren't I?"
Ira looked at him, her gaze steady. Then, she turned away slightly, exhaling. "Finally." she muttered.
"Someone capable of saying the truth."
Her voice was quieter now, less playful.
"To be honest...I'm scared too. Wandering into the unknown with just one life to lose... it is 'fucking terrifying'." She turned back to him, her eyes sharp with determination.
"But I believe I'll make it out. I believe we all will."
Kai studied her.
She smirked. "Maybe you don't believe it, but I do. We may be Seekers, but we're still sorcerers. And I believe we're going to prove that, not just to you, but to the entire association."
It might be an overstatement, but on hearing this, for the first time since he could remember, Kai felt something shift in his chest.
She leaned back, stretching her arms as she immediately cut their conversation short.
"Would love to keep talking, but you're seriously ruining my mood."
Then, her lips curved into a smirk.
"Tell you what. Tomorrow might be our last day on earth. So, how about we make tonight worth something?"
Kai blinked. As much as he had heard every word which had escaped from her lips, he needed confirmation before he would trust his dirty brain for any sort of interpretation.
"...Huh?"
Ira grinned, leaning in slightly.
"Have a drink with me."
Kai hesitated.
She laughed.
"Oh, and don't get the wrong idea." She gave him a teasing look.
"Not saying you'll get lucky. But who knows? Might get something else. That's probably one of the perks of being number one, right?" Her voice dipped slightly, playful.
Then, she rose to her feets and with short, deliberate steps, she turned away, walking off.
Kai just sat there, staring as she disappeared down the hall.
His brain took a full ten seconds to catch up.
'...What the hell just happened?'
The words "Might get something else." echoed in his mind as all sorts of pervertic thoughts immediately soured through his mind.
'Wait. Wait, wait, wait.'
Kai's entire body went rigid as the realization hit him.
His head snapped up. His heartbeat picked up.
'Is... Is she serious? Or just messing with me?'
His thoughts went on for only a few moments before-
"I'm in room 162. If you're up for it, show up before 8." She muttered, and then, she exited the rooftop.
Kai sat there, staring at nothing.
Then, the next thing he knew, he was back in his room, standing in front of his mirror, combing his hair with a level of precision that could only be described as obsessive. He wasn't gonna let this chance pass. Not a chance. Time had already passed by, and by now it was just a few more minutes to eight.
"This is it." he muttered to himself.
"A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
A girl didn't just ask him out. No. She invited him over. This was a tale of conquest.
"This... this is what makes men, men." he whispered dramatically, adjusting his shirt.
He stared at himself in the mirror. Black T-shirt. Jeans. His best casual look. Not like he had anything else.
He inhaled, checking his breath.
'Sweet as daisy.'
With one final look at his reflection, he exhaled.
'That's it...chicks love hot guys...so just act like one, you already look the part.'
And with that, he left his room, heading straight to 162.
By the time he stood in front of the door, his heart was a steady drum in his chest.
He hesitated for a split second. Then, gathering himself, he knocked.
There was a long pause as he awaited a response, and then he heard a few subtle, footsteps closing in.
Then, the door swung open.
The first thing he saw was— Bare skin.
His brain froze. Although it was only for a moment, his eyes automatically dropped to where the loose singlet ended, revealing her navel...and ofcourse, her well pointed breasts.
'N-No bra...Oh. Oh....her boobs look even better now.'
Kai's entire soul left his body.
Quickly, he forced his gaze up, meeting the elf girls amused, knowing smile.
"You made it." Ira said smoothly.
Kai swallowed, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.
"Uh. Yeah...I guess I didn't wanna spend my last hours alone."
Her smirk deepened.
"Well, you weren't the only one."
His brows furrowed as a ray of confusion clouded into his mind .
'"Not the only one?"...What does she mean? Is she some kind of weird threesome kinda gal?'
Ira stepped aside, extending a hand, gesturing for him to enter.
And that's when he saw them.
Two massive bosoms lounging comfortably inside.
His eye twitched. Even he was getting tired of his perverted ways.
Then, as if the universe had a sense of humor, a familiar face came into view.
Purple hair. Elf like ears. A very specific girl he could never really forget. It was the gripper girl- his teammate, who was gazing at him with upmost awe.
Kai just stood there. Staring.
In his head, only one word echoed, a rhetorical question aimed to the universe.
'...Really?'
