Reincarnated in the elven world

When he woke up, his eyesight was much better than he ever expected.

In fact, he could see far longer than he normally would. Also, his witness range had grown.

While he was wondering why his vision had suddenly increased, he remembered the events that happened some moments ago.

He had been reincarnated!

He quickly stretched his arm out and checked it.

It was a little rosier than normal, but it was human. His hands also looked more beautiful, but they were still human.

"So I've been reincarnated into another body," he said and looked around him.

The landscape he was in was quite different from the city life he was used to.

Instead of grey skies and buildings, there was a blue sky and several green vegetation.

Healthy trees stretched out for as long as he could see, the air was dotted with the smell of fresh flowers and grass.

The sound of birds singing, crickets chirping, and various other animals serenaded him.

Alex rose to his feet shakily. Where am I? he wondered aloud.

As he walked around, trying to make sense of where he was, he was gripped with a sudden thirst.

Why do I feel so thirsty? Alex wondered, one hand going to his throat. And where do I find water here?

But as luck would have it, it wasn't only his vision and sense of hearing that had improved, his sense of smell had improved as well.

The slightest whiff of water hit his nose, and he turned his head to the left, the direction it had come from.

He began to follow his nose as it led him to the water pool.

This is weird, he noted, but he was too thirsty to think about it.

He didn't walk for too long before he could see the pool ahead of him.

He broke into a run until he was near the pool.

As he was around five steps away from the pool, a force suddenly slammed into him, and he collapsed to the ground.

Alex wheezed and tried to breathe as pain shot through his side.

What the hell?! he yelled at the invisible barrier he had run into.

Then he heard a high-pitched voice. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry!"

Alex wondered if he was going mad. He had clearly heard a voice in front of him, but there was no one in sight.

Was it a ghost that had attacked him?

"Are you a ghost?" he yelled out.

"No, I'm not." The voice giggled, and right before his eyes, a beautiful girl blinked into view.

Alex's mouth fell open—whether it was at the level of her beauty or the fact that she had just appeared before him.

"You just disappeared," he managed to say.

"Yes," the girl replied, looking down shyly. "Sorry I attacked you, you were running, I thought it was someone who wanted to attack me."

"That's understandable," Alex said and pushed himself up to his feet.

The girl wanted to help, but he quickly raised an arm, warding her back.

"Don't come near!" he yelled.

Alex couldn't quite put his finger on it, but something about the girl made him worried.

It was in her looks—the way her blonde hair seemed to glow, the way her green eyes pierced his gaze, the way her body looked dainty.

She seemed unreal, inhuman.

"What are you?" he asked suddenly.

"What am I?" The girl repeated, confused.

"Yes, you don't look human," he said. "Sorry," he added. "But it's true."

Alex had been worried she would be offended, but the girl simply giggled. "Of course, I don't look human, 'cause I'm not."

"You're not?" Alex repeated.

That wasn't the answer he had been hoping for, and he scrambled to his feet.

"Don't come near!" he shouted.

The girl frowned. "Yeah, I'm not. I'm an elf, same as you."

Alex scoffed. "No, I'm not an elf. I'm human."

The girl's frown deepened. "You don't look human to me."

She pointed to the pool. "Check your reflection there."

Unsure what to expect, Alex walked unsteadily to the pool.

It was clear—cleaner than any pool that Alex had ever seen.

On the still surface, Alex's reflection stared back at him, eyes wide.

He had been reincarnated, alright. He was in a new body.

But the body was what made him stare in surprise. He gasped, and his throat bobbed.

He had blonde hair that curled messily around his head. His eyes were the color of a flame, glowing bright red.

His face was oblong in an almost perfect way, angling to a chiseled jawline.

His lips were rosy pink, and they puckered like those of a model.

In conclusion, his face now looked like it had been worked on by a group of professional cosmetologists, dolled up to enhance every nice feature of his.

It was unnatural.

"What is this?" he asked the girl. "Why do we look like professional models?"

The girl shrugged. "We look pretty normal, although by human standards, I guess we look better."

"So what? I've died and reincarnated as an elf?" Alex asked, almost disbelieving.

"What?" the girl asked.

Alex decided he didn't need to burden her with the information of his reincarnation. "Nothing," he said.

His thirst pang came back to him, and he turned back to the pool.

In one fluid moment, he had dropped to his knees before the pool and had scooped up a handful of water.

He didn't hesitate to drink the water and scoop up another.

"You need to come with me," the girl said. "My dad needs to meet you."

Alex stepped back. "Hold on, crazy girl, I'm not going anywhere with you."

The girl smiled. "I'm not a kidnapper or anything. Look, you clearly are confused and new here. If you meet my dad, he would be able to help you."

Alex thought about it for a moment. It was suspicious that this girl in front of him wanted to take him somewhere he didn't know.
