After simple questions like what is the schedule like in this school or what its school environment was like was asked, it was finally time to bring out the big questions.
"How would the instructors here compare to other schools?" Ruo Chen inquired while Sage nodded her head at the question.
Aleksandr sighed as he had expected this question to come and it was always a pain to answer.
"This schools instructors are very good in my opinion as their lessons are easy to understand and it is very progress based. You both probably never heard of them in your life as like the dark, they try to keep a low profile and like to stay hidden. Your success is almost guaranteed is you happened to get Mu Yang as your instructor."
The name Mu Yang did not ring a bell for Ruo Chen and he could not help but curse at his own laziness for not developing the characters background more. But since he was so highly regarded by Aleksandr, the head of healing department, then he could likely be Xiao Yuwei's teacher that Ruo Chen did not give a name to in the novel.
He wanted to give the instructor an air of mystery and at the same time he just could not think of any more names.
"But Mu Yang does not seem to be accepting anyone at the moment, no one knows what goes on in his mind so don't get your hopes up." Aleksandr said when he saw the glowing faces of Ruo Chen and Sage.
Ruo Chen felt a bit saddened by this as he wanted to meet this mysterious instructor that was able to rival the mighty lord Ye Ran. Sage did not seemed to be upset by this and only nodded in acceptance.
Instructors usually chose their students so it wasn't abnormal for them to be not accepting students for some time as they busied with their own matters.
"Then who is the next best instructor?" Sage asked with a fire in her eyes.
"You're looking at him right now." Aleksandr said with a smirk as he leaned back on the chair.
Ruo Chen and Sage stared at each other in disbelief.
The next best instructor was one that specialized in healing, wasn't that too lame?
They both thought as they had expected it to be another teacher who specialized in offense instead.
Ruo Chen then seemed to have remembered something as he looked at Aleksandr with a new light in his eyes. This was not some unknown instructor but was actually the famous unknown healer in the novel. After Ye Ran destroyed each village, Aleksandr was the unknown hero that was able to somehow revive the dead and restore the village to a certain extent.
Ye Ran was annoyed at this unknown person but was never able to catch Aleksandr as he was always secretive and slippery, often leaving Ye Ran raging when he escaped by a hair's breath.
Ruo Chen was able to make this connection as he had finally remembered what that unknown hero looked like. His description of the hero in the book was identical to the appearance of Aleksandr with both of them having the same tiny mole at the corner of the right eye.
He had actually decided to keep the appearance of the hero a secret in the novel but many readers were asking to get a profile of the hero and so he complied and included a bonus at the end of the chapter, introducing the hero to the readers.
Ruo Chen was surprised to find out that Aleksandr was actually teaching in the Ink River school as he had left the actual occupation of the hero empty and found himself thinking about why so many of Ye Ran's trouble came from this school.
So this was his actual job.
He thought as he made a mental note of who Aleksandr was in his mind as such powerful characters should be remembered.
"How can we get chosen by you?" Sage asked eagerly.
Aleksandr shook his head at this question as he looked at both of them with contempt.
"With both of you being at the level you are right now, there's no point even telling you." He sneered with an undeniable look of amusement in his eyes.
Sage was starting to feel a bit annoyed by Aleksandr's attitude but she held it back since this person was an esteemed teacher and she did not want to totally crush her chances of being accepted.
Ruo Chen shook his head mentally at this show of contempt as Aleksandr was the same in the novel. Even though he was kind in his own way, that guy could just never let go of his nature, it was kind of just how he was born.
"Then which teacher do you think we would have the best chance with?" Ruo Chen asked in a desperate way. Since he was going to act as a weak/mediocre person, might as well start acting the part now.
Ruo Chen even forced himself to wet his eyes, giving himself a pitiful look.
Aleksandr's face was stone cold at this sight but in reality his heart felt a little twinge. Yes he was contemptuous as a person, but deep down he was weak to these sights of sadness and it was also a reason why he fled the scenes so quickly. He did not want to see the disheartened faces of the survivors of Ye Ran's work.
"You... even if you are quite tragic right now, as long as you do well in the final trial, you should be accepted by Yan Sheng who is a also quite a good instructor." Aleksandr replied after a moment before turning to Sage.
"You as well."
Sage then thanked Aleksandr before they were both sent out as their time was up.
They then felt as if they were dropped from the sky as their surroundings changed to the main entrance. Both of them were a little shaken by the feeling and Sage had to squat down for a bit.
"Instructor Aleks is not all that bad, did you see the depressed look on his face when he heard your desperate plea." Sage said between breaths as she slowly stood back up again.
"Yes, he is probably just a complicated person." Ruo Chen remarked while he mumbled to himself, its just his two sides are always against each other.
They then decided to go to another booth and Sage threw some shy glances at Ruo Chen but he ignored them all.
Oh to be young and easily in love again...
Ruo Chen thought and sighed as they made their way to another booth.
This time, they chose one with a longer line as it had a sign that said it was giving out free gifts to anyone who comes. Ruo Chen and Sage were coincidentally both people who could not pass up on free gifts and they both looked at each other in tacit agreement.
They then continued their useless chatter about stupid things like eat shit or drink piss. The line seemed to take forever and so the questions got even more outrageous to a point Ruo Chen had to take a deep breath to contemplate before answering.
"Hey! Hey! Ye Ran is coming!" Loud squeaks could be heard from Ruo Chen's pocket and he paused his thoughts for a second.
"So?" Ruo Chen grumbled to Xiao Pang who was anxiously tossing about his pocket.
"What do you mean so you-!" Xiao Pang could not continue his sentence before a certain presence was felt over him.
Ruo Chen awkwardly smiled at Sage for his sudden pause but he saw Sage staring at something behind him.
He turned around to see Ye Ran looking at him with a murderous gaze.
Huh? What did I do wrong now?
Ye Ran was now only a few cm shorter than him so this stare felt like it pierced through his soul.
Tears?
Ruo Chen thought he was seeing things when he saw Ye Ran's glistening eyes but he realized that something must have gone terribly wrong for this lord to even form tears! This guy who never cried even after getting brutally injured in an accident where his entire left rib was blown off!
Sage stared at Ruo Chen's face which was changing between disbelief and concern and could not help but let out a chuckle. This scene was awfully similar to a romance novel she read when the girlfriend found her lover to be hanging out with another girl from work.
Ruo felt even more lost when he heard this laugh but he could not let everyone see Ye Ran so low at this moment so he quickly carried Ye Ran on his back.
But Ye Ran did not want to cooperate so this took a while as he kept slapping Ruo Chen's hands away before Ruo Chen finally won this childish battle and got him on his back.
"Sorry Sage, see you when I see you!" Ruo Chen hastily said his goodbyes before quickly leaving the scene.
Sage only laughed louder at this.
On the way back, Ruo Chen felt his shoulder slowly got wet and quickened his pace even further. They had gotten a few stares from some students asking if Ye Ran was hurt and he quickly replied that he was just tired.
Ruo Chen was huffing and puffing by the time they reached the dorm and he gently set Ye Ran down on the sofa while he collapsed beside him.
Now, just what was could have made this unmoving lord cry?
