The world was chaos. Yami couldn't see, couldn't hear clearly, and every sound, every light, every touch overwhelmed him. But something inside him, something primal and visceral, drove him to fight. The giant hands holding him were gentle, but to him, they were a threat. He moved his tiny arms and legs with a strength he shouldn't have, trying to break free, but it was useless. His body was too weak, too limited. Still, he didn't stop. He couldn't.
"This baby is incredibly strong!" said a distorted voice, as if coming from the other end of a tunnel. It was one of the giant creatures, a woman with a warm but surprised tone. A nurse.
"It must be his quirk," replied another voice, deeper and calmer. A doctor. "It's early, but it seems to be manifesting already."
Yami didn't understand the words, but the tone calmed him slightly. Still, he couldn't relax. His senses were out of control, and every movement from the giant creatures made him feel more vulnerable. They placed him on a cold surface and cleaned him gently, but to him, every touch was an invasion. He moved his arms with force, pushing against the hands holding him, but it wasn't enough. All he managed was to make the creatures laugh, a sound that felt distant and confusing.
"Look, he's quite the fighter," said the nurse, laughing as she wrapped Yami in a soft blanket. "He's going to be an incredible hero."
Carefully, the nurse carried him to another room, where a woman with dark hair and bright eyes waited with open arms. It was Haruno, his mother. Though Yami couldn't see her clearly, his instincts told him he was safe, at least for now. The warmth of her body and the calm rhythm of her breathing soothed him a little. For the first time since leaving the void, Yami felt... safe.
"Hello, my little one," Haruno whispered, cradling him with a tenderness Yami couldn't fully comprehend but found comforting. "You're so strong... so special."
As he lay in Haruno's arms, his mind began to work. He accepted the obvious: he was no longer in the void. Now he had a body, a fragile and limited body, but a body nonetheless. And he was surrounded by giant creatures who seemed to care for him, though he didn't understand why. The most important thing was that he was alive, and that meant he had a chance. A chance to never feel powerless again.
The door to the room opened, and a new voice filled the space.
"How are my two loves?" asked a tall man with a deep but warm voice. It was Masato, his father. He approached Haruno with a smile on his face, looking at Yami with pride in his eyes.
"He's fine," Haruno replied, smiling down at Yami. "He's strong, just like his father."
Masato laughed and reached out to take Yami. The baby felt himself being lifted again, and this time the movement was too abrupt. His stomach, still unstable, couldn't handle it. Before he could react, Yami vomited, staining Masato's shirt.
"Whoa!" Masato exclaimed, surprised but laughing. "Well, I guess that's what happens when you try to be a hero too soon."
Haruno laughed too, taking Yami back gently.
"Leave him alone for now," she said, cradling him carefully. "He has a lot to process."
Yami, for his part, was too exhausted to fight. His body was weak, his senses were out of control, and all he wanted was to rest. But deep within his mind, a cold, calculating determination began to form. He would never feel this way again. He would never be vulnerable again.
