The next day, early in the morning, Harrington was waiting for me downstairs.
As soon as I got in the car, he pulled out a steaming breakfast sandwich and soy milk from his chest.
"I was worried the breakfast would get cold on the way, so I've been keeping it warm against my body. Hurry and eat while it's hot."
I took the breakfast and held it in my hands.
Harrington drove, occasionally glancing at me from the corner of his eye.
"Yesterday, the head of the Chinese research confidentiality project contacted me, saying my name was on the project list for this time."
"Brent, I know you recommended me."
Hearing this, my hand trembled.
He didn't notice my reaction and continued.
"Although the personnel on the list are kept secret from each other, I know you must be on it too. Is it because of your parents' passing that you want to change your environment?"
"Don't worry, no matter where we are in the world, we'll always be together."
