I Need Some Space

The moment I burst out of the house, the icy air slapped me across the face, but it was no colder than the burn inside me. My fingers trembled as I gripped the steering wheel, my knuckles whitening. Thank God I had access to one of the cars in the house.

Everything outside me blended into one blur of city lights and black road. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't understand.

Calvin had been playing a long game. And I was the prize.

A choked sob clawed up my throat as I gritted my teeth, pressing harder on the gas pedal.
