Chapter 4

Finn followed through on his word with high efficiency, quickly clearing out all traces of himself from the home.

However, just before he left, he made one request of me.

"Your concert is coming up in a few days. I'd like to attend."

Perhaps fearing I wouldn't agree, he added:

"For the last time. I want to say goodbye to the past."

There was a pleading tone in his words.

But I was still displeased.

I knew that when Finn said "attend," he meant sitting in the VIP section.

And that VIP seat I had given out could only be occupied by my husband.

Even under normal circumstances, I was reluctant to be seen with him in public.

Let alone now that we were getting divorced.

I flatly refused.

"Absolutely not, Finn. Get that idea out of your head!"

"A slovenly, unkempt man like you - do you want everyone to know I chose someone like you as my husband?"

"Are you trying to completely humiliate me before our divorce? Is that your goal?"

I suddenly recalled Zoran's suspicions about him, which weren't entirely baseless.

Perhaps his current calmness was just a facade.

He might be waiting for the right moment to ruin my reputation.

The mere thought of this possibility sent chills down my spine.I am a renowned cellist in the outside world, while he is just an obscure nobody.

If we were to publicly clash, it's crystal clear who would end up more embarrassed between us.

I absolutely won't allow such a thing to happen!

Finn was still trying hard to explain.

"I really just want to say goodbye to the past. I'll clean myself up before going, I promise I won't embarrass you."

"You've let him go every time before, but I just want to go this one time."

"Just this once, please?"

With that last sentence, he was almost begging.

But I was even more convinced that he had ulterior motives.

People are like that. Once you've convicted someone in your heart, or decided they're going to do something.

Then they've done it even if they haven't.

I slowly shook my head.

"Finn, do you think I'd believe what you're saying?"

"How many times have I told you to clean yourself up, and you never listened once."

"Now you're telling me you suddenly can? Do you think I'm an idiot?"

Finn didn't say anything more.

The light in his eyes completely extinguished, fading into dead silence.

He left our home with his luggage.

As the front door opened and closed again.

The last trace of his presence was gone.
