Enmity

Chapter 3

Kyler was woken up by the intercom voice announcing their arrival in Canada. She woke up feeling tired and hardened. She resolved that as she started her new life in Canada nothing would pull her back to who she was. A rich fool no way. As she walked out of the airport with no one to welcome her unlike most of the passengers, she bought a cup of coffee to calm her nerves and breathed in the hot humid air of Canada. Anyways she only had her purse and phone. Not much to deserve a welcome. She hailed a cab and asked to be taken to Tim Hortons. Apparently, the biggest restaurant chain in Canada.

However, she didn't know that nature was slowly going against her wishes. On arrival, she walked straight to the bar and sat down at the far end. She was not ready to be approached and forced into a conversation by anybody. She thanked the stars countless times when the night kicked in and the dim lights didn't quite reach her spot.

She had only drunk a bottle of white wine when she noticed a man across the room looking intently at her. At first, she ignored it. Maybe it was her who was looking at him and making it weird. She ordered another bottle, and this time didn't dare look at him. Halfway her bottle, she couldn't hold it no more and throwing an eye to him, she was shocked. She started to feel uneasy but remembering that she was a newbie around comforted herself that maybe, just maybe she was sitting next to the person he was stalking and for a minute she felt safe.

She finished her bottle of wine but feeling it wasn't doing it's work well, ordered for a tequila. She slowly wallowed in self-pity and without knowing she had drunk the whole bottle and just like she wanted, she started to feel dizzy. She wanted to stall so that the creepy man at the corner would leave before she woke up. As sassy as she was, she lifted her middle finger to him and heavily banged her head on the bar counter. However, she didn't see the knowing smile on the man's face. He was used to 'women thinking that he would leave' thing but he knew better. He was not going anywhere any time soon.

7 hours later

Kyler woke up with a strong headache. Not what she had gotten used to in the past few days. Migraines. She swaps her card on the ATM left for her by the bartender and without looking around, walked out. When the cold misty night breeze of Canada hit her, she sobered a little bit. It came to her senses that she had nowhere to go and no one to go to. The loneliness now hit hard and differently, and she felt like crying but remembering who she was, she went back into the hotel to book a room. It was then that she saw from the corner of her eye ,the creepy man.

That shook her and she became worried. She started to think she had done a mistake to come here. What is wrong with him? She wondered. Right now she was sure this man was here for her because only the bartender and the receptionist just near the stairs had been left. Everyone had gone except for him. Well, and her. She was grateful when she was handed the key fob, and she literally ran to the elevator. She still couldn't understand why the man was doing this. She owed no one nothing.

In the eighth floor she located her room and was able to relax once inside. At least she felt safe. The faded ocean blue color calmed her nerves and made the room brighten up when the lights were on. She liked the room and decided to reside there until she got a job to sort her before the large amounts of cash from her shares got to her bank account. She had some money with her but to her, they were beans. Her expenses were too much. Spars, dressing ups, parties and at times roaming the world. Thinking about it, she burst out laughing at Rafael. He thought he would steal from her and let her suffer? He really needed to think through this but what's the use now? The deed had been done and there was no turning back.

She walked to the bedroom and flopped down on her bed falling asleep immediately and unluckily she didn't see the cameras hidden in any of the rooms. She didn't see the red light in her bed flash and start beeping. Outside the man had followed and was trying to open the door when he had the continuous beeping and got anxious. Something was not right. Without thinking twice, he hit the door but it wouldn't budge. It was a very thick oak door, and he knew he had to act fast. He called the emergency number on the lift door, but they were too slow because the beeping was increasing. However, the effect of the tequila Kyler had drunk was too much. she was deep in slumber land, oblivious to the danger she was in.

The man had gone down to ask for her key card but the stubborn receptionist denied him and he had to force his way behind the receptionist's desk and went with the card on the spare drawer that was on top. He knew it must belong to the girl's room because she had been the last one to check in. Back to eighth floor, the card couldn't open. WTF! It must be this one. What's wrong with it? He wondered. Worry was written all over her his face. He was screwed. He calmed himself down and tried to think. It was then that he looked at the card and noticed it had a different room number. He had no choice but to sit outside her door hoping that she would wake up and save her sorry ass.

Boom! Bhang! [screaming....
