Chapter 2: Crossing

Prologue

Sarah closed her eyes, resigned to her fate. After a while, the sounds of the people around her became clearer, and she could even hear the sirens of ambulances and police cars. Could it be that she wasn't dead yet? Curious, she finally mustered the courage to open her eyes and exclaimed, "Ah!"

At this moment, she was actually floating in the air, with her own body lying on the ground. The blood had stained her white shirt red, making her look particularly eerie.

The doctor had confirmed her death, and the police had set up a cordon around the body. The thief who had stabbed her was handcuffed by the police who handled the case swiftly.

The woman who held her child cried inconsolably.

Looking at the scene before her, Sarah realized she was really dead. She smiled bitterly and said to the sky, "It turns out that people really have souls after they die."

At this moment, she thought of the children in the orphanage and her friend Linda. She wondered if they could take good care of themselves after her death.

In this life, she died bravely, which was a worthy death. Sarah had no regrets!

Suddenly, a strange phenomenon appeared in the sky. Stars shone during the daytime, the legendary nine stars aligned! This amazing scene attracted everyone's gaze upward.

Sarah also looked up, but her body suddenly lost control, and she fell awkwardly in mid-air. A strong white light burst from the Nine Stars, her vision blurred, and she fainted.

When Sarah regained consciousness, she felt exhausted, her body sore and weak, and the surroundings extremely quiet. She slowly opened her eyes, stunned!

This was a golden palace, adorned with glazed ornaments, crystal accessories, intricate and delicate carvings. Palace maids kneeled on the ground, and a group of handsome men wept faintly nearby.

Seeing this, she couldn't help but swallow and exclaimed, "So hell is this luxurious?"

As soon as she spoke, everyone kneeling below exclaimed, fear evident in their eyes!

As if they had seen a ghost?

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Sarah asked in confusion.

This time, the kneeling people finally broke down and all began to cry out of fear.

In their eyes, the empress had clearly been declared dead by the imperial physician, so how could she still be alive and speaking? If this wasn't a ghost coming back, what else could it be?

At this time, a woman wearing an official hat and a red crane official uniform cautiously approached, examining her carefully.

Pulling Sarah's hand and feeling her pulse, she detected a clear heartbeat. The confusion in her eyes vanished, replaced by excitement. With tears in her eyes, she stood up and shouted, "Why are you all standing there? Hurry and call the imperial physician! God bless the empress, and may heaven not forsake me, Iris!"

After saying this, Sarah's eyebrows furrowed in puzzlement. Empress? Imperial Physician? Iris?

Wasn't she stabbed to death? What's the connection? No, Sarah seemed to grasp a clue, recalling the scene before she fell unconscious, the nine stars aligning! Could it be that she had caught up with the trend and her soul had traveled?

The trembling palace maids rushed to the Imperial Hospital to call the imperial doctors. The female doctors were perplexed!

After thorough examination and pulse-checking, they confirmed that the empress was indeed alive!

A group of people knelt down and proclaimed, "May God bless you, and may the Empress return to safety!"

Then, everyone kneeling, including the civil and military officials, shouted in unison, "God bless Iris" after hearing the imperial physician's diagnosis.

"Now that the empress has returned to us, there is nothing more for you here. Everyone, leave. The staff from the Imperial Hospital may stay." The woman once again commanded everyone with authority.

Sarah had been observing her. The woman before her had a heroic presence, with attractive features and an innate temperament. She seemed to be a high-ranking official!

Then she recalled that these people called her the Empress! Living another life, she had actually become an empress. How extraordinary!

It's just a pity for the original owner of this body, who passed away. Sarah thought to herself that she would never let down this identity. She would live well, for her and even more for herself!
