Truth be told, I've never been a fan of confrontation and banter, but at that moment, I didn't know what I wanted to do. I could only wonder what I was going to do at that moment.
As I walked through the streets of my city, the eyes of people kept looking at me with so much anger. I couldn't help but imagine what they might want to do to me.
Without being told, Thane's disciples had done their worst by denting my image. At that moment, I froze in fear as I couldn't endure all the taunts that people were throwing at me.
As I approached the town square, I froze in fear and uncertainty, as I didn't know what was going to happen next. I knew that my next move was uncertain.
Looking forward, I noticed that a long crowd had gathered in front. They consisted of werewolves that looked fierce, like they were ready to devour me.
At the center of them all, stood Victor. The ancient figure of destruction.
Immediately he saw me, his jaws tightened in anger, as if he was ready to consume me.
"Look who we have here," he smiled at me, with mockery in his voice. "The rejected stone of this pack. Why are you here, Rory? What do you want? Did you come to beg for forgiveness?
Immediately, I took a deep breath, as I tried to calm myself down from all the tension and panic that overwhelmed me.
"No, Thane. I'm not here to negotiate or apologize to you or anyone else. I'm here to warn you and your disciples to stop tarnishing my image."
Suddenly, they all burst out in laughter. A very long laughter. They laughed at me like I didn't know what I was doing. It was as if I was a clown or something.
"Do you think you can scare me with your empty threats? " Do you think your words can have any effect on me?"
"Empty threats?" he walked towards me with an intimidating glare.
"You're nothing but a disgrace to our brand. How can you even try to lecture the sane people that you betrayed? You're a pretender, and you don't even understand the consequences of your actions.
With each word he spoke, my heart skipped.
From where I stood, I could hear the whispers of the murmurings from the crowd, and I knew that I really needed to help myself.
"Thane, you can't intimidate me. You can't control my life, or make me live under your shadow.
"What would you even do about it? " Do you think anyone would help you?" he asked in a mock tone.
"Because I know that no one would ever stand with a coward and a rejected mate. No one would stand by you."
"Unfortunately, that's where you get it all wrong." I barked at him. "Everyone is tired of your constant manipulation."
Immediately I said that, I began to hear the murmurings from the gathering. Obviously, they were so tired of dealing with Thane's behavior.
Well, I couldn't tell.
From the look of things, I wasn't the only one who was tired of Thane, but they were all too scared to speak up. They weren't ready to speak their minds. Well, I couldn't even blame them.
"Silence her, now!" he barked in anger, and I began to feel like I couldn't come up with any form of defense, as his disciples began to close in on me.
That was when I heard a voice that sounded like that of my savior. "Enough is enough, Thane. Stop it!"
It was Kaiden, as he suddenly emerged from the darkness. Even in the midst of chaos, he seemed ready to defend me.
At that moment, I could feel the tension building up in the atmosphere.
Even in the midst of chaos, he still looked sophisticated, and his aura was still very intimidating.
"Stay out of this matter, Kaiden. " It's not your business," Thane barked at him, with so much vileness in his voice.
"Oh, I'm here to disappoint you. He barked at Kaiden with a loud voice. "Rory is under my care, and if you'd do anything to her, you'd first have to go through me, first."
Immediately he said that, Thane paused for a slight second, as if he was thinking about something.
The confrontation was scary, and the energy in the entire atmosphere was quite tense. Everyone seemed to be ready for the worst, and I couldn't even place my head on what could happen next.
"You can't protect her forever," Thane spat out in anger, as he gave me a deadly glare. "Well, we'll see to the end of this drama."
"No! " Not on my watch. " I think you're making a mistake. " You have to think twice before you threaten anyone around me," Kaiden warned him with a firm, yet dangerous voice.
Immediately he said that, Thane stepped back, as he motioned to his disciples to follow him.
"Let's go! However, I'd leave one piece of advice for you. " Watch your back, because from today on henceforth, you're my biggest enemy!" He said with every atom of evil in his eyes.
And just as I felt like the whole storm was over, the worst was still awaiting me. Even as they had already turned their backs to leave, Thane turned back to me, and spoke. "You might try to run away from the pack, but I, Thane, assure you of one thing." You can never escape."
Immediately he said that, I felt cold shivers run down my spine.
Even though Thane had gone, the weight of the confrontation still bothered my heart. At that instant, I knew that I had to be ready for the worst.
As I stood still in deep thoughts, Kaiden immediately walked over to where I stood.
"Rory!" he called out softly, "it's time for you to be more careful." He meant each and every word he had said earlier. Thane's threats can never be ignored. He would never hesitate to do the worst to you, especially now he has the backing of his senseless disciples."
"You're right," I nodded in freight, as my heart raced. However, I can't keep hiding. I can't keep running away from my fears. I know my worth, and I can't allow them to dictate it for me."
"There's honor in respecting yourself," Kaiden said to me in a calm voice. However, respect cannot shield you from the dangers that surround you. You must be wise."
I nodded in agreement. Suddenly, I had realized all my vulnerability and hidden fears that I had been hiding for so long. "What can I do now? How can I save myself from impending doom?"
"You need to have a team, you need allies," he said to me in a calm voice, "people who're trustable, and are willing to stand by you. "Honestly, it might take long, but you'd definitely meet them at the right time."
"What if I don't meet them? What if it doesn't work?"
He looked at me with a soft smile. "Well, if no one stood by you, then, I'd definitely do. You're strong and powerful, even more than you imagine."
Truly, was I really strong, as he said?
Suddenly, the dawn of realization was beginning to set in. I had to think about
Just then, I began to feel the vibration of the earth, just underneath me. I couldn't tell what it was, but I knew that my whole body was shaking.
It was never going to be funny, but I hoped that I'd be able to mind my business, and keep pushing, until I achieved all my dreams.
I didn't know what was going to happen, but, I had the belief that I'd be able to withstand all the pains that life had ever thrown at me.
I knew that it was never going to be easy, but I knew that it was really going to be hard for me.
I didn't know how easy it was going to be for me, but I believed that I could scale through whatever it was that had tried to destroy my mental health.
No matter what happened, I believed that I could achieve anything I put my mind to. Who knows?
I'd be able to actualize all the dreams that had tried to destroy me.
I was grateful to have Kaiden, but...
Before I could even think straight,
A figure emerged out of nowhere. It was Thane.
He looked vile and evil, and I knew that the worst was about to happen. At that moment, I knew that it was really going to be a hard one for me to deal with.
What was he going to do?
At that moment, silence engulfed the entire atmosphere.
"Get them out of here, and take them to a safe place!" Kaiden commanded in an intimidating voice. "We'll face him squarely!"
"Face him squarely?" I asked with fear in my voice, "Do you want us to fight him?"
"Rory, I'm not joking!" he shouted, in a very serious tone. "It's time! We have to prepare!"
Immediately, I noticed that more figures were emerging from the darkness. "From what I could see, he's not alone. He came here with more of his disciples!"
"Kaiden, that's so bad," I admitted, with fear in my voice. At that moment, I was terrified to the core. "What if we couldn't overcome them? What if we can't stop them? What if they overpower us?"
"Stop! Rory, it's time to focus. " We have to focus," he said in a calm, yet intimidating tone. I knew for sure.
At that moment, the skies began to darken. I knew at that moment that there was a big war. No matter how hard it might be, I knew that I had to scale through this phase. It was never going to be easy.
"There's no need," I said in a calm voice. "There's no need for that. "
Just as I imagined and thought, it was my worst nightmare, standing in front of me. It was Thane!
"We have to fight them..." but before I could finish speaking, the figure overwhelmed us.
