Chapter 7: The Truth.
As the days pass, Lily adjusts to her new role as Ethan's wife and business partner. They learn the ins and outs of business and quickly become valuable assets to the company. But even though Lily is more confident, she can't shake the idea that Ethan is hiding something from her. He tries to control himself and tell himself that he's fine, but it just doesn't work. One day while she's working in the office, Lily decided to talk to Ethan about what she was feeling. "Ethan, can I ask you something?"
Ethan looked down at the paper he was studying. "Hey, Lily," he said. "Why did you say that?"
Lily hesitated, unsure of what to say. "I feel like you're not telling me something".
Ethan's expression changed, and Lily realized he had a guilty conscience. "What did you say, Lily?"
Lily's heart skipped a beat, but she stopped. "I mean, you always get it wrong," she said. "You haven't told me about your past or your work, it seems like you're hiding something from me."
Ethan sighed and rubbed his temple. "Lily, I... I don't know what to say". Lily was very disappointed. She said, "Tell me the truth, Ethan." "What are you hiding from me?"
Ethan looked at her, his gaze fixed on her. "I've been hiding something, Lily," he said finally. "This could change everything."
Lily's heart skipped a beat. "What?"
Ethan hesitated, as if unsure of what to do. "I told you, Lily," he finally said. "But promise to listen to me with open eyes."
Lily nodded, wanting to know more. "I promise," she said. Ethan took a deep breath and then began to speak. "Lily, I have a secret," he said. "This secret could destroy everything we've built together."
Lily's heart skipped a beat, but she stopped. "What's going on, Ethan?"
Ethan's eyes narrowed at her, and for a moment Lily saw fear in his eyes. "Lily, I'm not who you think I am," he finally said. "I'm not just a businessman. I... I have more information."
Lily's heart pounded, but she tried to calm herself. "What do you mean?"
Ethan hesitated as if he didn't know what to do. "I'll tell you everything, Lily," he said finally. "But you have to promise me that you'll open up."
Lily nodded, wanting to know more. "I promise," she said. When Ethan began to speak, Lily felt as if she had entered a new world. This world of secrets and lies, hidden truths and undiscovered truths. As she heard Ethan's words, Lily realized that he had done something greater than she had imagined. This incident had changed his life forever.
When Ethan finished speaking, Lily felt herself going backwards. She couldn't believe what she was hearing now.
"Ethan, I... I don't know what to say," she stammered.
Ethan's eyes locked with hers, and for a moment Lily saw a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes.
"I know there's a lot to consider here, Lily," he said. "But I have to tell you the truth. I can't hide it from you anymore."
Lily nodded, trying to do everything she could.
"I appreciate your honesty, Ethan," she said. "But I need time to think about everything."
Ethan nodded, his eyes never leaving hers.
"I understand Lily," he said. "Take all the time you need."
As Lily stood up to leave, Ethan held her hand. "Lily, wait," he said.
Lily turned to him, her heart pounding in her chest.
"What is it, Ethan?"
Ethan's eyes locked with hers, and for a moment Lily saw the thought in his eyes.
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry," he said. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you the truth sooner."
Lily's heart melted at his words.
"It's okay, Ethan," she said. "I see."
As she turned, Ethan called out to her.
"Lily?"
She turned to him, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Yes?" She asked. Ethan's eyes locked with hers, and for a moment Lily saw a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
"I love you, Lily," he said.
Lily hesitated.
"I love you too, Ethan," she said.
When she turned away, Lily was surprised. What was their future?
