Chapter 2: The Investigation Begins

Chapter 2: The Investigation Begins.

Reggie's staff gathered in the grand ballroom, their faces a mixture of interest and concern. Reggie stood at the front of the room with the police officer leading the investigation.

"Thank you all for coming today." Reggie began to speak. "As you know, Bottomsworth's diamond necklace is missing. The police are investigating and are asking everyone to come and see if anyone saw anything strange last night."

The staff nodded, some of them exchanging surprised looks. Mrs. White, Reggie's personal assistant, spoke up.

"Master, I think I saw something." She said boldly. "I was walking through the library at ten o'clock at night, and I saw one of the staff, Emma, hanging around the door. It was a little strange, but I didn't pay much attention to her at that time. .".

The agent nodded and looked at Mrs. White. White's speech. "We'll definitely look into it." he said. "Can anyone else tell us about Emma's whereabouts last night?"

The staff whispered among themselves, but no one knew what Emma was doing.

Reggie's eyes narrowed. "I need to talk to Emma right now." he said. "Jenkins, go get him."

Jenkins nodded and hurried off to find Emma. A few minutes later, he returned with a young girl. Emma looked pale and frightened, looking back and forth between Reggie and the policeman.

"Emma, there was a report that you were in the library last night." The policeman spoke calmly. "Can you tell me why you did it?"

Emma hesitated, her voice shaking. "I was just looking for a book, sir." That'll be great. "I didn't take anything, I promise."

Reggie's eyes narrowed. "Books?" he replied again. "At 10 o'clock?"

Emma nodded, her eyes wet with tears. "I didn't sleep, sir," she said. "I often read books to clear my mind."

The policeman nodded sympathetically. "Okay, Emma, I'll check now, can you tell me if anything happened last night?"

Emma thought for a moment and shook her head. "No, sir." "Nothing is normal."

Reggie's eyes lingered on Emma's face, searching for signs of deception. But he looked very surprised, and he couldn't help but feel a little doubtful. Is Emma telling the truth or is she hiding something?

As the investigation continued, Reggie couldn't shake the feeling that nothing was as it seemed. The more I learned, the more questions I had. And he is determined to discover the truth of the mystery, no matter what.

As the investigation continued, Reggie began to feel better. He had always trusted his employees implicitly, but now he couldn't help but think that one of them might be the thief.

He decided to visit his cook, Marcel, who was busy preparing lunch in the kitchen. Marcel was a tough man with a handsome face and a love of good food.

"Marcel, my good friend," Reggie said, slapping the cook on the back. "I hope you're not too busy answering a few questions."

Marcel looked at the stove with a worried look on his face. "Yes, sir. How can I help?"

Reggie leaned against the counter and looked at the chef's distinctive hat. "I understand you were one of the last people to see Emma last night. Can you tell me what you saw?"

Marcel nodded, wiping his hands on a towel. "Yes sir, I saw Emma walking down the street around 10pm, she seemed a little... confused."

Reggie's eyes narrowed. "Takura? What do you mean?"

Marcel looked around the kitchen in horror. "I don't know, sir, it seems a little... desperate."

Reggie thanked Marcel for his time and continued his investigation, determined to find out the truth about the missing necklace.
