What did Yushiro do? Miss Blade's presence was terrifying, like a predator locking eyes on its prey, ready to strike. Beads of sweat trickled down my face as Senior Marko gently urged me to calm down. My heart pounded relentlessly against my ribcage, and my grip on my katana tightened. I stole a glance at Kenji, expecting him to share my panic, but instead, he wore a savage grin, barely restraining his excitement.
Yushiro, ever composed, leaned back with a smirk. "My, my. Don't you think you're affecting those not involved in our little... disagreement?"
Blade's sharp gaze flickered toward Kenji and me, recognizing the strain we were under. With a deep breath, she retracted her oppressive energy, and the suffocating tension vanished. Relief washed over me.
"Apologies," Blade muttered, her voice cold but controlled, before turning back to Yushiro.
I kept my eyes on Yushiro as my heartbeat steadied. He appeared unfazed, but was he truly unaffected or just putting on an act?
"Let's play," Blade said icily, still brimming with anger. "What game?"
"The same one I played earlier," Yushiro replied smoothly.
He handed the deck to Kenji, who looked puzzled. "I'm sure you wouldn't mind if Kenji dealt the cards," Yushiro added.
"Do what you want," Blade snapped.
Kenji shuffled the deck with precision before dealing five cards each. The game began, and as the rounds unfolded, Yushiro claimed victory after victory. Eight rounds in, Blade clenched her jaw in frustration. They played again... and again. Eleven games in total. Each win came faster than the last—eight rounds, then seven, six, five, and so on, until Yushiro ended the final game immediately upon receiving his cards.
I suspected Kenji of aiding him, but when Truth and Marko took turns dealing, the results didn't change. Something was off. Blade's glare bore into Yushiro, but he sat unfazed, his calm smile never wavering.
"What do you want to know?" Blade demanded, arms crossed.
"Not today," Yushiro replied with an infuriating grin, rising from his seat. "I'll ask another time."
He strolled upstairs, leaving us in bewildered silence. What just happened?
