After a few minutes of re-scanning every file, she decided to stand up to her chair and took her phone on her table, then dialed Althea's number
"Send me the location of the places where the crime scene happened." Rue started as soon as Althea picked up the phone.
"Okay, just a minute." Althea says and after a few seconds she receives a message from her. It is the location for each case.
"When do you plan to take a visit?" Althea asks while she wears her coat and sunglasses, still holding her phone.
"Right now." She replies as she gets her wallet and car keys, she puts the wallet in her pocket inside of the coat, the car keys outside the pocket of the coat.
"Sorry I can't accompany you today, I'm on my way to our site. Do you want me to come after?" Althea suggests to her.
"It's not necessary since it's not a new one. By the way, when is the last case?" She replies as she walks outside her office then goes towards the elevator.
"It happened on Saturday, last week." Althea says over the phone, as soon as the elevator open, she enters.
"Hmm. Thanks." She replied as she hung up the phone then put it in her pocket.
After a few minutes, she arrived at the parking lot and it didn't take a lot of walking to her car.
"Okay, let's start with the first one." Her first destination is the location of the first case, the one who died of a heart attack.
Rue arrived at the address of the first case. She takes off her sunglasses then gets out of her car.
Good thing she's wearing the ruby colored necklace that protects her from getting by the sun, she took it from her ancestor.
She looks at the house, it seems old, yet durable. She presses the doorbell button, after a few doorbells, an aged woman opens the door of the small dark green colored gate, she must be the wife.
"I'm Rue Williams, I'm her for the accident that happened 3 weeks ago. Would you mind?" Rue gets her I.D on her wallet then shows it to her.
The woman widely opens the gate for her, she enters and they walk inside the house.
"Please sit comfortably, let me get you a drink. Which one do you prefer, coffee or juice?" The middle-aged woman asks as they enter the dining area.
"Thank you. Water will do." Rue smiles at her and the woman walks towards the kitchen.
Rue is seated on the sofa and roams around her eyes in the room. They have a family picture on the wall. She saw that they have three children, two teenagers and one preschooler.
'How unfortunate. They seem like a happy family.' She also scanned for every picture on the side, graduate pictures and wedding pictures.
As she is looking at every picture, she notices something off with the pictures. They are all present for every graduate picture except for the last picture, the father is missing.
"My kids are at school. I'm now left alone here." The woman suddenly shows up with a glass of water, puts it on the table, and sits on the sofa beside her.
Rue remains silent to listen attentively to her.
"They said that is plainly a heart attack, and the fact that he is already an aged man." The woman continues, her eyes staring into space.
"Does he have a heart complication?" Rue asks while taking her observation.
"None. He is a retired doctor, he's just at home and I can't monitor his health because I'm always at work." The woman said and unconsciously held her own hands.
Rue nods her head as she looks deeply in her eyes. She is reading her mind all this time and all the words that came out of her mouth have no intentions of lying.
But she is certain that she is hiding something.
"How was your relationship with him?" Rue asked, still looking intently to her eyes, the woman breaks eye contact and looks away.
"How was your life with him?" Rue added that made the woman silenced, only their breaths can be heard inside the room.
The woman smiled bitterly. "Everything is going smoothly, we don't fight or argue, we are happy and content with our life." She said with a small chuckle, her eyes visible remembering their happy memories.
Rue stayed silent, letting her take her time to talk.
"I couldn't wish for more, I felt that I'm the luckiest woman to have him and our kids." The woman looks at her with a genuine smile on her face, she can feel the sincerity of her words.
"Not until he cheated." The woman averted her gaze and her smile turned into a lopsided smile.
Rue still remained silent. She knows that there are no words that can comfort her right at the moment. But at least she can make her feel that she's not alone while attentively listening to her.
"I just found out after a year of giving birth to our last child. But he's already cheating on me before I got pregnant with our last child." The woman bites her lower lip and holds her own hand, trying to hold back her emotions.
"But we worked things out!" She showed a fake smile.
"He stayed with us, and everything went back to normal like nothing happened. But that's all how it started." The woman's voice cracked at her last words.
Even though she's faking the smile, Rue can tell that she's hurting, also her mind is full of scenes of betrayal.
"Our children witnessed his dirty things while I'm gone for work. They also witness how we fight every time we talk about it." She composed, her voice trembling as she couldn't hide the pain anymore.
"I endured it all by myself because I love him and for our children's sake." She burst into tears, holding her face with her palms.
As Rue embraced her, a loud cry echoed inside the room. She is crying in pain.
They stayed in that position for a few minutes, then the cry turned into a sob.
"Thank you." The woman says as she sits up straight and wipes her tears with her hands but still sobbing.
"It's nothing. You've been through a lot for a long time and you're so brave in holding it until now." She said sincerely.
The woman took a deep breath and wiped the tears on her face, her eyes swollen, enough evidence that she's from crying.
Rue smiled at her as she took the glass of water and offered it to her.
"I'm embarrassed, you are my visitor yet you are comforting me with my dramas." The woman smiled awkwardly, getting the glass of water from her hand.
"You don't have to. Compared to your age, my age isㅡ" before she could finish her words, she realized that she nearly said that she's older than her age, she's a 120 years old vampire.
"Right. How old are you? You seem very young at your beauty." The woman asked out of curiosity and appreciating her appearance.
"I-I'm 28 years old." She uttered as she cleared her throat after saying it.
"Really? You look younger than that. My eldest son is the same age as yours, he's a doctor." The woman said as her face lightened up a bit while imaging both of them together.
Rue chuckled as she read her mind, she wanted to set her up with her eldest son.
