CHAPTER 35

Astrid POV

Kael pulls on Bolt's reins, trying to stop him, but this only aggravates him more. He leans lower to whisper something in his ear, but the animal is blinded. Neighing and lifting its front two legs, Bolt roars, and Kael tightly clutches the cantle to stop himself from falling. He barely escapes tumbling to the ground.

"Your Highness!" The men rush toward him, only to step back when Bolt starts running in circles like a banshee. Kael is barely holding on.

The men try everything—ropes, voices, sticks—but Bolt is oblivious, not giving a damn about anyone. He doesn't care if he steps over someone or kills them.

I stand there, frozen in place, watching everyone run around, screaming and shouting. The next thing I know, Bolt is charging toward me at full speed. His wild eyes stare at me, searching for calm, but I only offer more fear.
