The Battle in the Forgotten Abyss

(Samuel's POV)

The air in the Forgotten Abyss thickened, pressing down on me like a suffocating weight.

The remaining monsters had all been torn apart, their grotesque bodies littering the ground, their blood painting the dungeon's dark floor. But the sound of the final monster approaching made my stomach tighten.

I could feel the ground rumbling, the air around us heavy with something much darker than before.

This wasn't just a normal creature—it was the dungeon's final guardian, a monstrosity born from the very heart of the abyss.

I glanced over at Henry, who was already poised with his sword.

His usual confidence was now tempered with the deadly seriousness of a warrior about to face the true threat.

He didn't say anything, but I could see it in his eyes—we were both preparing for something we hadn't yet faced.

"You feel that?" I muttered, my grip tightening around my Abyssal Gauntlets.

Henry nodded, his voice low.

"Yeah. Something's not right. Stay alert."

Just as he spoke, the final monster emerged from the shadows.

It was massive—towering over us like a walking nightmare. Its body was an amalgamation of demonic features, covered in twisting, sinewy muscles that seemed to pulse with dark energy.

Its skin was a sickly gray, like old stone, cracked and rotting. But the most disturbing part were its eyes—pitch black, filled with an eerie, cold malice that seemed to bore into our souls.

It roared, shaking the very walls of the dungeon, a deep, guttural sound that rattled the bones of the earth itself. The ground beneath our feet cracked and split as it charged toward us.

"Stay back!" I shouted, as I quickly moved into position. I could feel the air rippling around me, the intensity of the moment making every muscle in my body tense.

The beast lunged.

I didn't wait. I shot forward, Void Step activating as I disappeared in a flash, reappearing behind the creature.

Before it could even react, I slammed my Abyssal Gauntlets into its back, the force of the blow sending shockwaves through its body.

The monster yelped in pain, staggering forward. But it wasn't finished. It swung its massive arm around in an attempt to crush me.

I barely managed to dodge, rolling to the side as its fist collided with the ground, sending stone and debris flying.

My heart pounded in my chest. This thing was strong, but it wasn't invincible. I could feel its weak points with every hit, and that was enough to give me an edge.

I jumped back to my feet, eyes locked on the creature. I was about to strike again when I heard Henry's voice.

"It's mine!"

He charged, his Sword of the First Dawn raised high. His blade gleamed, a streak of light in the otherwise dim and chaotic space. Without hesitation, he swung his sword down at the monster's exposed side.

The blade hit with a deafening clang, but the creature's thick skin absorbed most of the blow.

It wasn't enough to stop it, but it did cause the monster to stumble, giving Henry a chance to regain his footing.

I moved in once more, my gauntlets flashing as I landed two rapid strikes to the creature's side. The monster howled in fury, its body twisting in a futile attempt to escape our onslaught. But I wasn't done yet.

"Now, Henry!" I shouted, barely dodging another massive swing from the beast.

Henry reacted instantly. He dashed forward with incredible speed, his sword held at an angle as he cut deep into the creature's side.

The blade sank in, leaving a trail of bright, divine light as it carved through the monster's flesh.

For a moment, the creature stumbled backward, gurgling in pain, its grotesque mouth opening wide as if to scream. But it didn't scream—it roared.

The ground cracked beneath us, and I knew what was coming next.

"Look out!" I yelled, diving to the side as the monster slammed its tail into the ground with explosive force, creating a shockwave that sent boulders and debris flying in all directions.

I barely managed to roll out of the way, my heart pounding. But Henry…

He didn't move fast enough.

The tail hit him with brutal force, sending him crashing into the wall of the dungeon. I heard a sickening crack as his body collided with the stone, and for a moment, I thought he might've been done for.

But then, Henry's sword glowed bright with celestial light, and he slowly pushed himself up.

"I'm not done yet," he growled, his eyes locked onto the monster.

The beast had no time to react.

I leapt forward, taking advantage of the opening, my gauntlets glowing with an otherworldly energy as I slammed a devastating blow into the creature's neck. The monster let out an earth-shattering scream, staggering back as its blood sprayed across the dungeon floor.

But it wasn't finished.

It charged again, its claws outstretched, aiming to rip us apart.

"We need to end this, now!" I shouted.

Henry nodded, gritting his teeth. He pulled out a small crystalline orb from his belt—the Celestial Warpstone. I recognized it instantly. It was a device that allowed him to move with incredible speed and teleport in the blink of an eye.

"Let's do this," he muttered.

He activated the Warpstone, vanishing in a flash of golden light. In an instant, he appeared directly above the monster, his sword raised.

"Heaven's Verdict!"

Henry swung down with blinding speed, the divine energy of the sword cutting through the air with a force that made the dungeon itself shudder.

The blade struck the monster's skull, sending a shockwave of light through its entire body. The creature's eyes went wide in shock as it screamed—but it was too late.

With a final, bone-shaking screech, the monster collapsed, its body twitching for a moment before going still.

I watched as its lifeless form hit the ground with a thud, dust and debris flying in all directions. The dungeon was silent, the only sound the heavy breathing between Henry and me.

We stood there for a moment, catching our breath, staring at the lifeless corpse of the creature that had nearly taken us down.

"We did it," Henry said, his voice low but filled with a certain satisfaction.

I nodded, wiping the sweat from my brow.

"Yeah. But this is only the beginning."

The dungeon was far from empty. The absence of the dungeon core meant that there would be more challenges, more twists, and the possibility of even greater dangers lurking deeper inside.

But for now, we had won.

We had conquered the Forgotten Abyss.

And with that victory, we knew we were one step closer to reaching the New World—and whatever fate had in store for us.
