Inside the Abyssal Gate

Samuel's POV

As I stepped through the massive gate, a cold shiver ran down my spine. Uneasiness.

It had been a long time since I felt this—a sense of danger so profound that both my Human Heart and Black Heart reacted at the same time.

"Tch. That's rare," I muttered, flexing my fingers. The Warden's Gauntlets pulsed with power, as if preparing for whatever lay ahead.

The air inside was thick, heavy with a presence I couldn't quite describe. It was **dark, but not just visually—**it felt like the very concept of darkness had taken form here. The space beyond the gate was endless, shifting between twisted ruins and an abyss that seemed to swallow sound itself.

[Warning: Abyssal Corruption detected. Proceed with caution.]

I clicked my tongue. "Yeah, no shit."

The Presence in the Dark

I took another step forward, and suddenly, the ground beneath me disappeared.

"What—?!"

Before I could react, I was falling—free-falling into endless blackness. The air rushed past me, but there was no wind, no sound, just the cold embrace of the abyss.

Then, I heard it.

A voice.

Deep. Hollow. Ancient.

"Another one enters… yet another fool seeks the abyss."

I twisted mid-air, my instincts flaring as I tried to locate the source. But it was everywhere. The voice didn't come from one place—it resonated from the darkness itself.

"Who's there?!" I demanded.

The answer came in the form of laughter.

Slow. Mocking.

"Who am I? A question spoken by all who enter this domain… but tell me, outsider—who are you?"

I narrowed my eyes. "Samuel Gebb."

Silence.

Then, the laughter stopped.

And then, the voice spoke again, this time lower, almost in a whisper.

"Ah… The Harbinger of Destruction. The lost one… the fractured soul."

I clenched my fists. "You know me?"

"I know all who seek the Abyss. I know those who hunger for more. Tell me, Samuel… what is it you truly seek?"

Before I could answer, I hit solid ground.

The impact should have broken bones, but instead, it felt… weightless. As if the rules of this world were warped.

I stood up quickly, scanning my surroundings.

The abyss had taken form—a vast, ancient battlefield stretched before me. Shadows of warriors long dead stood frozen in time, their weapons locked in an eternal struggle.

And in the center…

A throne.

Not just any throne—this one was carved from pure black stone, pulsing with an eerie, crimson glow. Chains wrapped around it, sealing something—or someone—within.

[Quest Updated: Unseal the Abyssal Gate – Approach the Throne.]

----

I took a deep breath. "Well, this just keeps getting better."

I stepped forward, my heartbeat steady, but my mind racing.

Whatever was waiting on that throne… I had a feeling it would change everything.

The throne ahead loomed like an ominous beacon, its aura heavy with ancient power.

Every step I took felt like the ground itself was resisting my movement, as if it were alive, testing my resolve.

The chains that bound the throne to the floor writhed slightly, as though aware of my approach.

I cracked my knuckles, the Warden's Gauntlets glinting in the dim light. The weight of the situation wasn't lost on me.

The Abyss had already begun to seep into me, and with each passing second, it felt like the walls between this world and something far worse were thinning.

"So... you're the one they've sent," the voice echoed once more, its tone now laced with curiosity. It seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. "I've seen countless before you, but none quite like you. You've walked in the light, yet you've embraced the darkness. Tell me, Samuel Gebb, what do you truly desire?"

I didn't break my pace. The voice was insidious, probing, but I wasn't here for conversation.

I was here for answers, and if this abyssal entity thought it could sway me, it was mistaken.

"What do I desire? Power. Control. Freedom. I've seen the world through the eyes of both man and monster. I'm done being a pawn in the hands of others. I'll carve my own path."

The laughter came again, but this time it sounded… amused.

"A king of your own making, hmm? You're not the first to dream such a dream."

The chains rattled louder, and for a moment, the air grew dense, suffocating, as if the very fabric of reality itself had shifted. The throne seemed to pulse now, like a living creature.

I kept moving, my steps steady, though every inch felt like I was wading through a sea of resistance.

"You misunderstand," the voice continued, its tone becoming more commanding. "You think you can control this power, but can you truly? The Abyss takes, and it never gives back. What you seek… might not be what you find."

I reached the base of the throne, and I could feel the heat radiating off the chains, their energy almost burning through my skin. Yet, I wasn't afraid. Fear had no place here.

"I'm not afraid of you," I muttered, more to myself than to the unseen voice. "You're just another obstacle, another test. And I've passed them all."

With a single motion, I raised my hand, activating the Warden's Gauntlets. The gauntlets hummed with energy, their power surging through me like a floodgate opening. I felt the warmth of King's Dominion brush at the edges of my consciousness, reminding me of what I was capable of.

The chains responded, their motion violent now, as if rebelling against the force I was invoking. They pulled, dragging the throne and everything around it into a violent whirl.

"You will regret this," the voice threatened. "You cannot unbind what has been sealed for eons."

I smiled, feeling the surge of energy. "We'll see about that."

With a final, forceful push, I thrust my gauntlet forward. The energy crackled through the air, and a massive explosion of force erupted from my hands, sending shockwaves through the surrounding darkness. The chains snapped one by one, their once-unyielding hold on the throne now shattered.

For a split second, there was silence.

And then, the throne began to shift. The chains unraveled completely, their power dissipating as if they had never existed.

The throne was unsealed.

A flood of dark energy poured from the seat, swirling around me like a vortex. I stood my ground, absorbing the energy, allowing it to wash over me. My senses heightened, and I could feel the vast power swirling beneath the surface of the throne.

"You... have done it," the voice whispered, no longer mocking, but with an odd reverence. "The Abyss recognizes you. But beware… this power is not a gift. It is a curse."

I didn't respond. I wasn't interested in its warnings anymore. The Abyssal Gate had been opened, and I had done what I came here to do. But there was something else.

As I looked at the empty throne, I knew what came next. The Abyss wasn't finished with me yet. It was far from finished.

I reached out, touching the seat of the throne. It hummed beneath my fingers, and in that instant, I felt something surge within me—something ancient, something that had lain dormant for millennia. The Abyssal Power fused with me, and I could feel it threatening to consume me.

But I didn't resist.

"I'll make this power mine," I whispered.

The air around me thickened, and for a moment, I thought the very ground would collapse beneath my feet. But then, a voice echoed in my mind—not the voice of the Abyss, but my own thoughts, amplified.

"You're not done yet. Not by a long shot."

The chains that had once bound the throne slithered back into the darkness, but this time, they didn't fight me. They accepted me. I was no longer just Samuel Gebb. I was something more. Something that could no longer be controlled.

The ground beneath me shifted, the Abyss had recognized me, and in doing so, it had made me its own. A king, a ruler of a forgotten kingdom, a harbinger of destruction.

I turned, heading back toward the gate I had entered. The Abyssal energy was still coursing through me, reshaping my body, my mind, my soul.

"I'll remember this," I muttered to myself. "But I'll make sure it remembers me as well."

The Abyss had opened its gates to me, and now… I was its new ruler.

I smiled, feeling the weight of the Forgotten King's Relic in my hand. This was just the beginning.
