Her name is Stella Braumer, and she is a professor in Elemental Magic. She is a high-ranking mage who can cast spells that can devastate a city, and her mana reserve is big enough to let her cast that spell three times.
She is a practitioner of Formal Magic, but at the moment, she is interested in the new magic system, and she must say that it is very powerful if used correctly. What her fellow professor teaches is something that can change the flow of battle. Formal magic is all about chanting, and the longer the chant, the more powerful the spell usually is.
However, a magic system that does not require any chant is something new and intriguing.
Clevercraft is raw and powerful. However, just like any magic system, there is a downside. This type of magic system's downside is the cost of mana it requires to cast. Her niece showed her how to use Clevercraft, which was very interesting.
She takes a deep breath and imagines the star formation in her mind before opening her palm. She watches as a ball of orange light appears above her palm. She uses her bloodline power and sees the light above her palm, creating the same formation as the star in her mind.
Her bloodline power lets her see the magic pattern, making her and her family learn faster in any magic they see.
"A primal magic that forms from the formation of the stars. However, I wonder why it is called Clevercraft. Is it an ego? Is it because he created this magic system and decided to name it that? Hmmm."
She shakes her head and thrusts her hand toward the wall to her left. A torrent of fire comes out of her palm and hits the wall. She grins and hums at the sight.
"I wonder if he is willing to accept a spar with me? Oh, who am I kidding? He is a professor in Battle Magic. He needs to accept."
With a grin still on her face, she leaves her office and walks toward Jacob's office. After a few minutes of walking, she knocks on his door.
"Come in."
She opens the door and sees him playing with a cute creature. It is a fox-like creature with a red jewel on its forehead. It is a very fluffy-looking creature, and she has a hard time holding a squeal.
"Ah, Professor Stella. Please take a seat. Do you want tea or coffee?"
"Don't worry. I will not be long."
Jacob nods and stays on his seat, patting the creature on his lap. Stella starts to get jealous.
"Of course. What can I do for you?"
"I wonder if you want to have a spar with me? After witnessing your new magic system, I wonder how well your magic is in battle. Also, what kind of creature is that?"
He smiles and scratches the creature on the chin.
"This little girl is a Carbuncle. She is my summoned familiar."
"Oh? Are you a summoner as well, Professor Jacob?"
"Among other things. How do you want this spar to be? A full-on fight with all of our magic or just on specific magic?"
Hearing those words, Stella looks at him in shock before her smile appears once again. This time, it is bigger than before.
She is excited to fight him even more now. His words just confirm that he knows more than just Clevercraft.
"All out. Let's go to the special training ground in an hour. I shall secure the training ground from the headmaster."
She holds some sway over the headmaster because of her service to the academy and the donations her family gives to the academy. She can secure a training ground without any problem.
"Sure. I have been thinking of doing some training."
"Great! Go to Training Ground number one in an hour."
"An hour, got it."
She gets up before she can leave; Stella looks at Carbuncle and says.
"Can I pet her?"
"Sure. Just make sure not to do it too hard, okay? She doesn't like it when you pet her too much."
"Thank you!"
Jacob puts Carbuncle on the table, and Stella pets her head gently. Stella releases a small squeal when she hears Carbuncle purring at her touch. After a few seconds, she releases a content sigh and says.
"Thank you for that. She is so cute."
"Indeed. She is cute."
"Anyway, I should go and secure that training ground."
She waves her hand and leaves his office. Jacob looks at her and hums after the door is closed. It has been a week since he arrived in this world, and he is already growing stronger each day. The reason? He has been teleporting around the world, connecting the land using his Colored Magic and his Planeswalker power.
He now has twelve Blue Mana, five Black Mana, eleven Red Mana, seven White Mana, and Twenty Green Mana. It will be recharged when a new day arrives. If he is not a Planeswalker, only one color is recharged, and he can only take at most two colors.
He understands the reason why Planeswalker can be considered a God in the Magic: The Gathering universe. Even one color mana can make you into a formidable fighter, but when you have an unlimited supply of it and can recharge it when the clock runs past twelve PM? You are a God.
He is excited to test his new magic and already plans to enter a monster nest to test it before Stella comes to propose a spar.
"What do you think, girl? Should I go all-out?"
Carbuncle looks at him and nods her head. Just like any Carbuncle, she is an intelligent race and understands her summoner and the language her summoner speaks. She might not speak it, but because of a connection between her and her summoner, she can speak and project her intent.
"Really? Won't it be too much for her? I am not being arrogant, but Planeswalker is a mortal god."
"Purrr~"
"Fair enough. Show her what I can do but not at full power."
Jacob thinks for a few seconds and nods his head. He is already planning how to use his magic in this fight. He gets up, and Carbuncle jumps into his shoulder.
"Kyuuu~"
"What? You just ate an hour ago."
"Kyu! Kyuuu~"
"Fine. Let's go to the canteen and take some meat for you to eat."
