Just as the echoes of the slamming door faded, the office door burst open again.
Noah, Abraham, Natalie, and Daniel rushed in, their expressions tense with worry. They had heard Ryder's angry shouts from outside but hadn't been able to make out his words.
Nat's eyes immediately scanned the room. Ryder was gone, but Silver stood rigid behind her desk, her shoulders stiff, her breathing slow and controlled. The air in the room was thick with tension.
"What happened?" Nat asked cautiously, stepping closer.
"Nothing," Silver replied flatly, her voice eerily calm.
Her eyes, however, told a different story. They were bloodshot red, like she had been holding back tears—or rage.
Abraham exchanged a glance with Noah, sensing the underlying storm brewing beneath Silver's collected facade.
Daniel, noticing her clenched fists and the way she was gripping the desk like she was keeping herself from shattering, quickly handed her a glass of water. "Here, drink this," he said softly.
Silver hesitated for a moment before taking it. Her fingers curled around the glass, her grip tighter than necessary.
Noah, still on edge, pressed again. "Silver, we heard the shouting. Did Ryder—"
CRACK!
The sound of breaking glass shattered the heavy silence.
Everyone's breath hitched as they watched in shock. Silver had crushed the glass cup in her bare hand.
Blood dripped onto the polished wooden floor, the red contrasting starkly against the white marble accents in the office.
But what was more terrifying wasn't the blood—it was Silver's silence.
She didn't flinch. She didn't cry out.
She just stood there, watching the blood slide down her fingers as if it didn't belong to her.
Too quiet.
Too still.
"Silver!" Natalie gasped, rushing forward. She grabbed Silver's wrist, eyes widening at the deep cuts on her palm. "What the hell are you doing?"
Abraham immediately pulled out his handkerchief, trying to press it against the wound, but Silver barely reacted.
"Silver, say something!" Noah demanded, his voice laced with frustration and concern.
But Silver just let out a slow exhale. "I'm fine."
"Fine?!" Daniel scoffed, looking at the blood dripping onto the floor. "You just crushed a glass with your bare hands! That is not fine!"
Silver finally lifted her gaze.
Her bloodshot eyes were unreadable, but there was something chilling in them—something dark.
"I'm tired," she said simply, pulling her hand away from Natalie and Abraham's grasp. "Tired of all of this."
Noah clenched his jaw. "Silver, I know you're strong, but even you have a breaking point. Whatever Ryder said—"
"This isn't about Ryder," Silver cut him off sharply.
A dangerous glint flickered in her eyes.
"This is about Cici."
The room fell into a heavier silence.
Abraham sighed, crossing his arms. "You're really not going to let this go, are you?"
Silver's lips curled into a cold, humorless smile.
"No," she said softly, almost whispering. "I'm not."
Daniel ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "Then what exactly are you planning?"
Silver tilted her head, her expression unreadable.
"I'm going to end her."
Her voice was calm. Steady. Unshaken.
And that terrified them more than if she had been screaming in rage.
Noah exhaled, stepping closer. "Silver, revenge is one thing, but you're walking a dangerous path here."
Silver met his gaze head-on. "I know exactly what path I'm walking. And I don't need you or anyone else to stop me."
Her hand was still bleeding, yet she seemed completely unfazed by the pain.
Natalie grabbed her wrist again, glaring. "At least let me clean this up before you bleed out all over the damn floor."
Silver finally relented, allowing Natalie to pull her toward the couch and get the first aid kit from the drawer.
As Natalie carefully cleaned the wound, Abraham sighed heavily. "Silver, are you sure this is worth it?"
Silver's gaze turned sharp.
"She tried to ruin me. To erase everything I worked for." Her voice was laced with something raw. Something bitter. "She failed. But now? I'm going to make sure she never gets the chance to try again."
Abraham shook his head. "Then what? When you destroy her, what happens next? Will it bring you peace?"
Silver was silent for a moment.
Then she smiled.
"Yes," she said.
And for the first time, they realized—she meant it.
The moment Natalie finished wrapping Silver's hand, Lily's call came in.
Silver answered without much thought, but what she heard made her grip the phone tighter.
"Cici tried taking her life," Lily's voice came through the speaker. "She's in the hospital now, but it's not that serious. Ryder is with her."
Silver's face remained expressionless, but something flickered in her eyes.
Lily hesitated before continuing, "The reason I'm telling you this is because Ryder said he's going with Cici to the family dinner at the old house tonight. Not you."
A cold silence stretched between them.
Silver's lips twitched, forming a small smirk.
How predictable.
Cici was playing the victim again. And Ryder, as expected, fell for it without hesitation.
Silver took a deep breath, her tone eerily calm. "Thanks for the information, Lily."
She ended the call before Lily could say anything else.
Natalie finished securing the bandage and looked up. "That was Lily?"
Silver nodded. "Cici is in the hospital. Apparently, she tried to take her life."
Natalie scoffed. "Oh, please. That girl wouldn't die even if the Grim Reaper personally came for her."
Silver chuckled, but there was no humor in it.
She stood up, grabbing her purse. "I'm heading home. I have something to attend to."
Noah narrowed his eyes. "Silver—"
She cut him off with a look. "Don't."
She was done explaining herself.
Without another word, she turned on her heels and walked out of the office.
As soon as the door closed behind her, Daniel let out a shaky breath. "I'm terrified of this side of her."
Natalie leaned against the desk, arms crossed. "Me too."
Noah sighed, rubbing his temples. "When she's like this, it's impossible to stop her."
Abraham's face darkened. His fingers unconsciously tightened around his armrest.
Daniel noticed the change in his expression. "What is it?"
Abraham exhaled slowly, his mind drifting back to their university days.
"…I just remembered what she did to that guy in college."
Noah and Natalie fell silent.
They all remembered.
It was a night none of them would ever forget.
UNIVERSITY DAYS – EIGHT YEARS AGO
Silver was different back then. Younger, less guarded—but just as dangerous when provoked.
There was a guy. A wealthy heir from a powerful family. His name didn't matter anymore.
What mattered was what he did.
He had made the mistake of thinking Silver was weak.
He had tried to ruin her reputation. He had spread rumors, manipulated people, and made her life hell for months.
Until Silver decided enough was enough.
One night, she invited him to a "party." It was in an abandoned warehouse near the university.
He went, thinking he had won. Thinking she was surrendering.
But what happened that night was something that still haunted those who knew the truth.
By the time the guy left that warehouse, he was a broken man.
His name disappeared from society. His family sent him overseas, and no one ever saw him again.
No one knew exactly what Silver did to him.
But the next day, he dropped out of school.
And the day after that, he left the country.
All Silver had said at the time was, "He won't bother me anymore."
And she was right.
PRESENT
Abraham swallowed hard, snapping back to reality.
Daniel was staring at him. "You're thinking about it too, aren't you?"
Abraham nodded.
Natalie crossed her arms. "If she was capable of that back then, imagine what she could do now."
Noah clenched his jaw. "That's what worries me."
Abraham exhaled. "Cici has no idea what she's playing with. Silver won't stop until she destroys her."
Daniel shook his head. "And Ryder?"
Natalie's lips curled in disgust. "He deserves whatever's coming."
Noah remained silent.
Because deep down, he knew—
Silver was far too dangerous to be messed with.
