Chapter 71: Student Council

Ryo stood in front of the grand doors leading to the Headmaster's office, his mind filled with determination. The concept he was about to propose had the potential to change the academy's structure forever. Taking a deep breath, he knocked, and a deep voice granted him permission to enter.

Inside, the Headmaster, an elderly man with piercing golden eyes and a commanding presence, sat behind a large mahogany desk. Several professors stood nearby, curious about Ryo's unexpected visit.

"To what do I owe this visit, Lord Takashi?" the Headmaster asked, leaning forward slightly.

Ryo bowed respectfully before speaking. "I would like to propose the formation of a Student Council within the academy."

Murmurs spread among the professors, but the Headmaster remained silent, intrigued. "A Student Council?" he repeated. "Explain."

Ryo nodded. "The Student Council will act as a governing body among students, ensuring discipline and organization within the academy. Unlike the current system, where nobles hold most authority, this council will include talented individuals regardless of status, ensuring that commoners also have representation."

At this, some professors raised their eyebrows, while others exchanged skeptical glances. The Headmaster, however, appeared thoughtful. "And what purpose does it serve?" he asked.

"The Student Council will bridge the gap between students and faculty," Ryo explained. "It will be responsible for maintaining discipline, organizing events, and ensuring the academy runs smoothly in the absence of the Headmasters. Moreover, it will provide students with leadership experience and allow them to resolve conflicts among themselves before they escalate into serious matters."

The Headmaster stroked his beard. "Interesting… but how do you plan to ensure fairness in the selection of council members? Won't nobles naturally attempt to monopolize the leadership roles?"

Ryo shook his head. "That's why there will be an evaluation process. Every candidate must pass a rigorous test of intelligence, leadership, and combat proficiency. They must prove themselves capable of handling responsibility, regardless of their background. Nobles will not receive special treatment."

A few professors chuckled. "You expect nobles to accept such a system?" one of them asked.

"They will have no choice," Ryo replied firmly. "The academy values merit above all else. If a noble truly deserves a seat in the Student Council, they will earn it through capability, not bloodline."

The Headmaster leaned back, intrigued. "How will the Student Council function on a day-to-day basis?"

Ryo pulled out a set of documents he had prepared beforehand. "The Student Council will consist of several key positions:

Student Council President – The leader responsible for overseeing all activities and making final decisions. Vice President – Assists the President and takes charge in their absence. Disciplinary Committee Head – Ensures rules are followed and resolves disputes. Treasurer – Manages funds for student activities. Event Coordinator – Organizes academy-wide events and competitions. General Representatives – Members who assist in various tasks and serve as liaisons between students and faculty.

"The council will hold weekly meetings, where concerns and suggestions from students will be discussed. Any major incidents or disputes will be reported directly to the faculty if they cannot be resolved internally."

The Headmaster nodded slowly. "This… could work. Having responsible students take charge could indeed ease the burden on professors and staff."

One of the professors, a strict-looking woman with glasses, spoke up. "But what if the Student Council misuses its power? How do you ensure they don't become tyrannical?"

Ryo smiled. "Checks and balances. Every member will be monitored by a faculty supervisor, and their actions will be recorded. If any council member abuses their authority, they will be expelled from the council immediately."

The room fell silent as the faculty members absorbed his words. Finally, the Headmaster chuckled. "You've clearly put a great deal of thought into this." He then glanced at the professors. "What do you think?"

After a brief discussion, the majority agreed. The Headmaster then turned back to Ryo. "Very well. I approve of this idea. We shall proceed with a trial run of the Student Council."

Ryo bowed. "Thank you, Headmaster. I will ensure this system is a success."

As he left the office, a small smile played on his lips. The academy was about to change forever, and this was just the beginning.

Before Ryo could fully leave, the Headmaster called out once more. "I will need to consult the other Headmasters regarding this matter. It will take some time, but once a decision is made, we will summon you."

Ryo nodded in understanding. He had planted the seed of change—now, all he had to do was wait for it to take root.
