Chapter 138: Zaboru's PC Games Idea

After Ayumi left, Zaboru continued jotting down notes and brainstorming ideas for his handheld console. However, as he scribbled, another thought crossed his mind—the supposed king of gaming platforms, the master race of gaming itself: the personal computer!

PC development in this era was progressing similarly to 1991 in his previous life. Windows 3.0 was already out, MS-DOS was still widely used, and both were evolving rapidly. However, when it came to gaming, PC titles were still roughly ten years behind like their console counterparts from his previous life. Despite this, Zaboru knew that the PC gaming industry would eventually explode with groundbreaking titles.

"If I want to expand ZAGE's reach, I need to consider PC gaming as well," he mused.

The idea of forming a dedicated PC game development division had been lingering in his mind for a while. He had already planned to start it next year, but the more he thought about it, the more urgent it seemed. The early '90s was a turning point for PC gaming, with revolutionary titles like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, SimCity, Maniac Mansion, Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls, and Prince of Persia shaping the industry.

"If I play my cards right, I could jump ahead and set the foundation for an even bigger PC gaming industry," he thought. "But there's one problem... Japan doesn't really care about PC gaming. The market for it is small. In the U.S. and Europe, it's a different story—PCs are slowly becoming household items. If I want to focus on PC gaming side , I'll have to focus on those regions first. But how? Should I look for a foreign distribution company?"

Zaboru leaned back in his chair, tapping his pen against the desk. "I also need to start hiring more employees. I'll need a small team dedicated entirely to PC-exclusive games."

Despite its potential, PC gaming still had two major weaknesses, and even in the future, these problems would persist. First, PCs were expensive. Second, they were notoriously difficult to set up for the average user. Even in the future, many people would struggle with PC builds, driver installations, and system compatibility issues. Most gamers loved PCs for their versatility—being able to run emulators, install mods, tweak settings, multitask while gaming, and so on. But these two barriers always limited PC gaming's accessibility.

"If I could make a standardized gaming PC that removes the hassle and lowers the price..." Zaboru trailed off, deep in thought. "A gaming PC built for convenience, where everything is already set up for the user... Heh. That could be revolutionary."

He shook his head, chuckling to himself. "That might work in the future, but definitely not now. Right now, I need to focus on software. Hardware can come later."

For now, he had to consider which type of PC games would thrive in the current market. Strategy games, simulation games, and point-and-click adventure titles were popular on PCs. Unlike consoles, where fast-paced action and platformers dominated, PC games required a different approach.

"Maybe I should start with a game that takes advantage of the mouse and keyboard setup. Something like a city-builder like SimCity or a deep strategy game like Warcarft," he pondered. "Or perhaps an RPG? An open-world like Elder Scroll? or First Person games like Doom or Wolvenstein?"

The more he thought about it, the more ideas flooded his mind. Should he create a game that challenged existing genres? Or should he refine a familiar formula? The possibilities were endless.

Zaboru sighed, stretching his arms. He had spent hours brainstorming, and his mind was racing with ideas. He decided to step outside for a bit, get some fresh air, and maybe squeeze in some exercise.

As he stepped out of his office, he smirked to himself. "If I pull this off... the future of PC gaming in this world might change forever, heh i even hope i can met Lord Gaben himself and make Steam together with him , that will be a dream" with that Zaboru continue his activity and the day ends
