Chapter 509 Risa Miller Visit

Sunday, 4 August 1994 – Morning

Zaboru is still at his office in the Japan branch, fully immersed in work on the Eight Projects. He's in a productive flow when suddenly, his office phone rings—a rare occurrence since only a handful of people have the number. He answers casually, "Hello, Zaboru Renkonan speaking."

A familiar female voice responds with playful energy. "Oh! I knew you'd be working on a Sunday. Classic you, boss! Anyway, this is Risa Miller—I've got an update on the ZAGE expansion in Europe. Are you available to talk right now?" Zaboru blinks in surprise, then chuckles. "You're in Japan?"

Risa Miller laughs on the other end. "Yeah, since Thursday! But I needed a break, so I took a few days to recharge. Now I'm all set and ready to go."

Zaboru nods, still amused. "All right, come over."

"I'm already on my way," Risa replies with a grin in her voice.

Zaboru calls Ayumi. She doesn't plan to go to the ZAGE office—she's deep in her game development and riding the momentum.

"Ayumi, can you come to my office?"

She raises an eyebrow, then smirks. "Oh? Missing me already?"

Zaboru chuckles. "I always miss you, Ayumi. But this is different. It's Sunday, and Risa Miller from Flocks—the one handling the ZAGE expansion in Europe—is stopping by with updates. I'd rather not be alone with her. If you're here, she won't get the wrong idea. I just want to keep it strictly business."

Zaboru won't take any chances. If it's not one of his girlfriends or family, he'd rather not be alone with another woman.

Ayumi's eyes widen a little. "Alright, I'll come."

He nods and ends the call.

Ayumi sighs, her lips curling into a reluctant smile. "How am I supposed to be mad at him when he says things like that?" She shakes her head with a soft laugh. "He's so clueless about women… and yet, that's exactly what makes him my Zabo."

She puts on makeup and dresses to impress—just in case a certain sneaky cat tries to make a move.

Some time passes, and Ayumi arrives at the ZAGE office. Not long after, the doorbell rings—someone presses it. It's Risa Miller. She's dressed casually but put together with style. She expects Zaboru to greet her.

"Hey! Zab—who are you?"

Ayumi smiles. "Hello there, Miss Miller. I'm Ayumi, Zaboru's substitute secretary—and his girlfriend. He's already waiting for you in his office."

Ayumi is wearing a fitted office suit that highlights her curvy, youthful figure, along with glasses—Zaboru's known weakness.

Risa's eyes widen. "S-sure, Ayumi," she replies, thinking, Damn, his girlfriend is gorgeous. I don't stand a chance. And i heard she's a game dev too? Damn!

Moments later, Risa Miller and Ayumi step into Zaboru's office. Zaboru greets them with a warm smile as Risa takes a seat across from him. Ayumi offers a polite nod, then gracefully excuses herself to prepare drinks for both of them.

Risa Miller then quips, "So your girlfriend also doubles as your occasional secretary? I didn't know you were into that kind of dynamic, Zaboru."

Zaboru chuckles lightly. "Yeah, she's my girlfriend—and I love her a lot. But let's focus. How's the expansion going after four months?"

He clearly had no interest in discussing his relationship with Risa and steered the conversation back to business without missing a beat.

Risa Miller chuckles, amused by how quickly Zaboru shifts into business mode. "Very well," she says, placing a folder on his desk, "here's the detailed report. It covers all the shops Flocks has opened across Europe so far—primarily in England."

She leans forward, her tone more confident now. "Our operations in England are going very smoothly. We've launched several official ZAGE retail locations and secured partnerships with local retails as well. The reception has been fantastic. You wouldn't believe how many unauthorized shops were reselling ZAGE products at ridiculous prices. Once we entered the market with proper distribution and fair pricing, those places got upset—but we're used to dealing with that kind of pushback. Flocks handled it cleanly and efficiently."

Zaboru flips through the report, analyzing the data carefully. It outlines how many ZAGE products have been sold across a four-month period and details the number of retail locations already established. There's also a thorough breakdown of how Flocks allocated the 50 million dollars ZAGE provided. Everything looks steady and well-managed. Most importantly, customers in England now have easier access to ZAGE products at fair prices and faster delivery—exactly the kind of reach and efficiency Zaboru had hoped for.

Zaboru is impressed. "That's really impressive, Risa. I didn't expect this much progress in just under four months. It's really impressive."

Risa grins. "Well, that's mainly because the ZAGE name is already very popular across Europe, you know? The gaming scene there is great." Zaboru nods.

Then Risa adds, "Oh, and one more thing—most of our English customers are constantly asking for a soccer game. Or, well, they call it football there. I really think if you made one, it would fly off the shelves."

Zaboru nods thoughtfully. "Yeah, I'm aware. Football's huge over there. But if we do it, we'll need a solid plan. Licensing, mechanics, style—we have to nail it from the start. No rushed launches."

Ayumi then returns with drinks. Zaboru smiles and nods, then continues, "So, it seems you've secured the England market, and while there's room for improvement, what's the next country in Europe?"

Risa grins. "Next up should be Italy, then France, and after that, Germany. Our goal is to establish a presence across all of Europe. The real challenge will be Russia. At the moment, Flocks doesn't have any regional experts there, and their policies are... unpredictable. But we'll give it our best shot. If we can launch ZAGE officially in Russia by the end of this year—or early next year at the latest—that would be the ideal outcome." Zaboru nods as he scans the financial documents. "I see. Even the finances are in great shape? That's honestly surprising." Zaboru will give this to his head of finance Sayuri the next day and she will review it.

Risa grins. "More than great! Now I get why Ryan and James enjoy working with you so much Zab—uh, I mean, Boss! You're seriously generous."

Despite investing $50 million into Flocks and trusting Risa Miller to lead ZAGE's European expansion, Zaboru still allowed her to retain a generous margin on retail sales—just like James and Miller in Emerald Wings America. As a result, Risa's pockets ran deep.

Zaboru chuckled. "Glad to hear everything's going smoothly. Now, Risa, can I ask a favor? I need you to look for a large building in England—something suitable for lodging. If you find a good one, contact me and go ahead with the purchase."

Risa raises an eyebrow. "Oh? What's it for?"

Zaboru chuckles. "It's for my temporary residence in England. I want to spend some time there—there's a lot I could do for ZAGE's future in Europe. And also…" he glances at Ayumi with a wink, "maybe sneak in a little vacation."

Risa rolls her eyes with a smirk. "Alright, alright. I'll start looking."

They continue discussing business for a while longer, reviewing expansion plans and timelines. Eventually, Risa stands, gathering her things. "I'll be heading back to England tonight," she says. "Thanks for the hospitality, Boss." Zaboru nods, and Risa Miller gathers her things. He walks her out to the front offices of ZAGE. From there, she catches a taxi back to her apartment to pack before heading to the airport.

Meanwhile, Ayumi remains in the office and chuckles softly. "Heheh, that went pretty well, huh, Zabo?"

Zaboru smiles. "Yeah. With you here, she kept it strictly business."

Ayumi walks over and settles onto his lap, kissing him lightly. "So… Europe, huh? Think we could have a date there sometime?"

Zaboru hugs her gently. "Of course, Ayumi."

He kisses her deeply. It's been a while since they've had a quiet moment together—just the two of them, enjoying something soft, something romantic. For now, nothing else matters. They savor the warmth, the closeness, the comfort of being exactly where they want to be.
