Isabella Carter didn't like being backed into a corner.
She paced the length of her office, phone pressed to her ear as she spoke to Philip Langston. The Titan Freight deal had been flawless—until Alexander had struck. Now, Riverton Bank was on the verge of pulling their funding, and if that happened, the entire partnership would crumble before it even began.
"I don't understand," Philip said, his voice laced with frustration. "Everything was set. Why is Riverton suddenly hesitating?"
Because Alexander Blackwood was pulling the strings.
Isabella inhaled sharply. "Because Blackwood has influence over their board. He's playing dirty."
Philip swore under his breath. "Can we counter this?"
Isabella's mind raced. If Alexander had targeted Titan's funding, she needed to secure alternative capital—and fast.
"We need an investor who can override Riverton's influence," she said. "Someone with enough financial leverage to stabilize Titan Freight and keep this deal intact."
Philip hesitated. "There's one possibility. Victor Harrington."
Isabella's pulse quickened. Victor Harrington was a billionaire investor, known for backing high-stakes ventures. If they could get him on board, Blackwood's move would be neutralized.
"I'll handle it," she said firmly. "Set up a meeting with Harrington. Tonight."
Blackwood Enterprises – A Storm Brewing
Alexander sat in his office, reading the latest financial report when Lily entered, looking uneasy.
"There's a problem," she said. "Carter's already countering our move. She's reaching out to Victor Harrington for investment."
Alexander exhaled slowly, setting the report down. Isabella was predictable—she wouldn't just accept defeat.
"Harrington won't invest easily," he mused. "He's cautious. He'll need assurances before he commits."
Lily hesitated. "What do we do?"
A slow smirk played on Alexander's lips. "We get to Harrington first."
If Isabella thought she could outmaneuver him, she was dead wrong.
The game wasn't over.
It was just getting started.
