Hayden's Treatment ( 1 )

"Thank you, Dr. Veyra," Hayden said after a moment and shook his head.

"But I must decline. However... if you're willing, I'd like to learn from you for the next week. There's so much I don't know, and your knowledge could help me in the future."

The physician studied him for a moment, then nodded. "Very well. A week it is. But mark my words, young master—you have the potential to change the world. Don't let it go to waste."

Dr. Veyra knew very well that the Acupuncture knowledge that Hayden possessed could assist their advancement in medical treatment.

However, if this acupuncture knowledge spreads, it would also affect the sources of income or several businesses owned by Magicians.

'Right… He doesn't know these things… I have to remind him.' Dr. Veyra thought as he was worried that if people learned that Hayden knew about the lost medical technique, he might be targeted by the Magicians.

To be honest, Dr. Veyra had a feeling that this incident wasn't an accident. He guessed that this was done by a new Magician to earn some money as they would normally require a lot of resources when they were still developing their spells.

Furthermore, he actually heard that Howard had been visited by a few people offering to help them. However, because he wasn't too far from here, Howard chose to wait for him instead.

Based on his understanding of the Magicians, especially the newly awakened ones that aren't supported by a noble or rich organization, they were certainly capable of doing such a scheme just to earn money or obtain resources.

'But… if they're not aiming for the Baron's wealth, then Howard must've something that the Magician wanted…' Dr. Veyra mused for a moment but all of this was just speculation.

Nonetheless, it wouldn't really be surprising since he heard that the Baron's family was previously a prestigious one and had slowly declined over the past few decades…

'Ah… Maybe they still have some sort of heirloom when their family was still at its peak.'

Dr. Elias Veyra lightly smiled as he realized that his speculations had already gone too far.

Over the next few days, Hayden immersed himself in Dr. Veyra's teachings.

Hayden didn't have a hard time getting permission from his father to learn medicine from Dr. Veyra. Howard even seemed delighted after knowing that Dr. Veyra took an interest in him.

Perhaps, if Dr. Veyra hadn't mentioned that he only planned to teach Hayden for a week, he already pushed Hayden to accept him as his master.

In any case, Hayden learned about various diseases that exist in this world. He also received books about herbal remedies, basic methods of diagnosis, and the intricacies of the human body.

But more importantly, he gained a cover for his Ocularis Lens!

Now, whenever he diagnosed someone or suggested treatment, he could just proceed with the basic diagnosis method or attribute it to what he had learned from the physician and use his Lens!

"Dr. Elias Veyra is quite a famous person… If people know that I learned from him, that would be a perfect cover." Hayden thought for a moment.

Nonetheless, learning under Dr. Elias Veyra had been intense.

Hayden had absorbed as much as he could about herbal remedies, energy flow, and the intricacies of the human body. But as the days passed, he knew he couldn't delay any longer. The Ocularis Lens had been clear: his blocked meridians were a ticking time bomb, and the acupuncture treatment was the only way to fix them.

On the final night of Dr. Veyra's stay, Hayden finally obtained all the Acupuncture Needles he needed to treat himself!

Then, he approached the physician in the manor's infirmary.

The room was quiet, lit only by a single oil lamp.

Dr. Veyra was packing his belongings as he was getting ready to leave tomorrow morning.

"Dr. Veyra…" Hayden spoke softly. "There's something I need to tell you."

The physician looked up and saw his student.

"It's teacher… What is it, Hayden?"

Hayden took a deep breath. "Right… It's about me. I have a condition quite similar to the patients we treated—blocked meridians. To be exact, it seemed to be the Veil of Aetheris. I need your help to cure it."

Dr. Veyra's expression shifted from curiosity to concern.

"Blocked meridians? How long have you known about this?"

"Since before you arrived, teacher." Hayden admitted. "I didn't say anything because... well, I didn't want my father to know. It's also quite special since it's not from magic left by a Magician… Originally, I planned to do this myself but since you've become my teacher over the past week. I believe that I could trust you."

The physician studied him for a long moment, then sighed.

"You've been carrying this burden alone, haven't you? Very well. I'll help you. I believe that you are already aware of the areas you need to clear up."

"There's a total of 42 Points to be exact, teacher." Hayden said firmly.

"That's a lot… That will be dangerous." Dr. Veyra muttered.

"But I don't have a choice. If I don't fix this, I'll never be able to manifest Aura. I'll never become a Knight…" Hayden said as if it was really his dream to become a Knight.

Dr. Veyra, on the other hand, didn't doubt it and nodded. "Alright. Let's get to work."

After an hour of preparation, Dr. Veyra learned everything he needed to do from Hayden himself.

Hayden lay on the infirmary bed. His shirt was removed to expose his chest, arms, and legs.

Dr. Veyra stood beside him and a tray of sterilized silver needles was on a small table next to the bed.

Hayden even left some marks on his body highlighting the 42 acupuncture points that needed to be stimulated. This made it easier for Dr. Veyra.

The physician then closed his eyes as he recalled all of Hayden's words…

"As you've said, these points are critical," Dr. Veyra started.

"You said that we'll begin with the Heart Meridian to stabilize your energy flow. The first point is Shenmen, located on the wrist. This will help calm your mind and prepare your body for the treatment."

Hayden nodded as he realized that the doctor could recall everything he said word by word.

It was impressive!
