Banquet(1)

Elena was about to step inside the mansion when her aunt spotted her.

Mrs Smith immediately called upon her and said.

"Elena, my Dear, come here. We decided to eat outside, at your grandfather's garden."

We? Isn't this a family gathering? What the heck are they plotting again, Elena thought as her aunt guided her into the garden.

"Aunt, what's the occasion?" Elena asked with curiosity.

"Your uncle invited some people from the company to meet you."

Invited? Heh, you mean you bribed them to witness the transfer of shares? I'll bet some of them are shareholders my grandfather trusted. Hmmp, how did uncle convince them to betray Grandfather?

Elena wondered as she walked along with her aunt.

"Uncle is so understanding, I'm so lucky to have you both. You're my only family left in this world," Elena sneered, acting blissfully.

Mrs. Smith felt glad that her niece-in-law was still as stupid as before and replied.

"As long as you're happy, as your grandfather said, we are family; we need to help each other."

Elena looked at her aunt with a smile, but deep inside, she wanted to slap this woman so badly; her acting was so great.

Family? Don't make me laugh.

As they chatted together, they arrived at the garden soon.

Elena looked at the bright and well-decorated garden and wondered how much her uncle had spent on making this area exude luxury.

She immediately left her aunt and walked to the bustling area.

There, she saw the board members who had betrayed her in the past.

They were smiling and chatting with each other, along with some young females, making this elegant garden that her grandfather nurtured cheap and dirty.

These old geese. Let them be happy for now.

Elena took a deep breath and calmed down.

It was not yet time to snap the facade; she still needed the funds.

But she would not swallow this blatant disrespect from her uncle.

As the owner of the mansion, of course, she had to make her presence known; though she didn't wear a dress, she still walked confidently without giving everyone a damn.

Elena got a champagne glass from the waiter and a spoon from the table.

She then taps the glass to get everyone's attention.

When everyone's eyes were on her, she went to the center of the stage.

I'll let these people know that this mansion belongs to me, not her uncle. Since her uncle wants to portray a generous owner, I want him to feel like a guest at his own banquet.

Before her aunt and uncle could react, she had already started her speech.

"Good evening, I am so glad you gave time to come for my late inauguration as the new chairwoman of Smith company. To the board, despite your busy schedule, thank you for supporting me; I will always remember your faces today, "

Yeah, I will remember each one of your faces. Do you think I don't know you're here to support my uncle?

Elena continued, "To my uncle and auntie, who was always there for me, I thank you for taking good care of me."

Yeah, you had manipulated me in the past, but this time, I will make you guys bleed mentally.

"I don't want to be emotional today, so please guys enjoy the dinner and have fun. Thank you!"

After her speech, a loud applause was heard throughout the banquet.

Everyone felt awkward when they listened to the young miss speech; they indeed came today but with a different agenda.

Elena then stepped down from the stage as she looked for his uncle and aunt.

Upon hearing his niece's speech, William was so angry that he wanted to smash the glass on the table but held his temper.

He also didn't want to lose his facade yet.

So he smiled at the people and walked straight to his niece.

He wanted to scold her and tell her he had made this event to let his close friends know he would be the new chairman, but his niece ruined it.

Before he could lecture her, Elena had already enthusiastically spoken with him.

"Unlce, thank you so much for the surprise banquet, I truly appreciated it."

William swallowed the word he had to say.

Let her enjoy this moment. It's not time to confront her.

"As long as you're happy," clenching his fist and pretending to calm down.

Mrs. Smith smoothly intervened, knowing her husband was on the brink of losing his temper.

"Dear, you eat first, and I'll introduce you to some of my friends later."

"Okay, I'll eat now; go ahead, first, aunt. I'll be sure to follow once I'm done."
