Days pass by. Three months later.
A wild boar was pacing through the forest. It was limping, an arrow was stuck in its hindlegs. Red blood was pouring out of him.
'Swoosh'
Another arrow came out of nowhere and stuck its other leg. It tumbled and eventually stopped.
Cayne came in front of him from the bushes. He closed in on him carefully. While the boar was injured it wasn't dead yet. He used his club to hit him. The boar dodged. Their fight continued for around 5 minutes ultimately, the boar lost. It couldn't last long with blood pouring out.
Cayne came near it and lifted the boar with him and moved towards his campsite.
It's been three months. Cayne has already developed his skills considerably. He is even able to use them simultaneously for some time.
The boar was now being skinned and ready for cooking. This was done through one of the knifes he made. A total of three knives.
One for cutting flesh for cooking. Another a bigger one for removing limbs and bones. And lastly a combat knife.
The combat knife was the sharpest of them all. He has made it with the help of a long stone. It was pointed at the top & its hilt was wrapped in leather.
He has also made two spears. And finally, a bow and arrows. The bow was made with the help of tendons. The arrows with the fangs of snakes and bones.
He has also made all the makeshift utensils needed. And clothes as well, calling it hide would be much better. His camp was also on a high tree.
Thinking of the observations he has made in these three months he sighed. There was something in the air. He couldn't name it, but his senses has been improving. The improvement was miniscule, but he could feel it.
Not only him, he could feel that the animals have also been transforming. He knows that if he lacked behind them, he would now die.
Constant improvement is a necessity now. Well, he doesn't know about other survivors, but he is gonna survive and even thrive in this new world.
He picked up the tusks of the boar, they were hard and bent, great for making more weapons. He placed them in his arsenal.
In the past three months he had collected all sorts of things. There were tens of bones. Some good hides of animals. He has even collected a poison sac of a snake.
Thinking of it, he shivered. He had nearly perished. He has already coated three of his arrows with the venom for emergencies. He has also found some edible fruits after experimentation.
But the biggest thing is a new aspect. He has been constantly practicing his archery for three months daily. Initially he did it for a limited time, but lately he has increased the time.
He has spent around 3 hours everyday doing it.
He had tried every variation he could.
He has hunted fishes; when they are still, when they are swimming in speed. He has hunted birds, when they are flying. He has hunted bigger animals. He has also placed several targets and tried to hit them consecutively.
He has been trying shooting while running, hanging & sitting. All the combinations. Everything several times.
The reason for doing this is due to his speculation. For continuously typing for years, he has got the skill of {Quick Hands} and his learning practice & job has landed him with {Calculation}, if so, then why can't similar amount of practice provide some other skill.
This is just a basic observation. Anyone with a little bit of brain can figure this out.
He obviously doesn't think he has years of time for learning, but he has been trying to compensate it though diversity, and a training program. He hopes that they work or his time while not wasted, still would hurt him somewhat.
Another factor is that he has ultimately decided to move. This area is safe at this moment but the revelation that the animals are progressing makes it dangerous.
He has decided to move firmly the next day. He would be now going in the direction of the river.
......
The next day, early in the morning. He looked towards the place he has buried his fortune. He obviously can't carry everything. Although reluctant the best would be to bury them and if needed, he will come back to take them.
He has already packed his bag, in it were his most important provisions. Gripping his spear, he marched in the direction of the stream.
After travelling several kilometres, he stopped for rest. Previously he might have panted on the way, but he also been training his body every day. His belly fat was almost gone. He was having dark skin and a little bit of muscles.
He was still ordinary looking though. Lol, can't change it through exercise. His hair has now grown in length.
Well, he was not entirely unscathed, there were several scars across his body.
One of them was from his left chest to stomach. It was not deep but still dangerous. This was the result of a fearsome wolf. Even after being injured through earlier fight, that wolf still had nearly sent him to hell.
Ultimately, to his luck there were no infections on the wounds.
While thinking about his circumstances he continued his journey.
After three days of gruelling journey, he finally heard a rush of water. His destination was near.
A smile crept on his lips. He rushed forward with hurried steps.
...
In front of him was a marvel of nature. A sprawling river with width of 100 metres. The water was gushing too fast. The might of the river falls on the stones on the riverbed.
Watching such a marvel makes him feel small yet liberated. There is always a sense of serenity in watching nature. It's always beautiful yet deadly.
He watched the river from afar, while he wanted to get in it as quickly as possible, it's ultimately better to survey the surroundings first.
Cayne climbed atop a tall tree & peered as far as he could see. Nothing relevant.
After that he walked along the contours of the river. Walking about a few kilometres, he stopped. He saw something that made him dead in his tracks.
No, it was not an apex predator. It was something else entirely.
A corpse.
He wouldn't have felt anything if it was of an animal. It was definitely a human. After taking deep breaths and calming himself down he moved closer.
It was small, probably of a child. He could see that it must be of a child around the age of 12-13 years.
There was only one probability that such a corpse appears in the middle of forest. He was also from Earth. This made him think of a gripping realisation.
All the people of Earth regardless of age have been transported here.
Whether they may be of 12 years or 70 years. There may be newborns transported as well.
It made sense towards another revelation as well. That most if not all of them must have died. They are incapable of protecting themselves in this dangerous world.
A major chunk of the population would have died till now.
This world does not discriminate. It does not show undue mercy yet is merciful. All the living beings have been transported. They may be animal, birds, human or who knows maybe even plants.
They all are at the same starting point.
Yet those who were at the forefront will continue to run ahead as they were. An act of mercy or indifference.
There also ran a chill up his spine. Not because of the deaths, living in wild has at least desensitized him of such false hypocrisy.
The chill was due to the factor that those older than him, having greater experience would be leagues ahead him in this world.
They might have multiple skills as well. Much greater in number than him.
A part of him was also a little glad that what he was having on him was useful and good for him in the future.
With a sigh of relief, he looked towards the corpse. There was nothing on it worth plundering.
While some of you may call him cold-hearted, he was neither his relative nor anyone important to him. So why would he worry about irrelevant things rather than his own survival.
Thinking of it from an Earthly viewpoint might as well be a slow death in this world.
He now knows of one fact. He can come upon other people in this world. While its not his style to team up, but for increasing chances of survival it is given fact that strength is in numbers.
You must not by any means think he is sociable person.
This temporary alliance is and will always be for his benefits. If in the future things are bad these kinds of alliance will surely break.
Thinking till this point he chuckled. He has not yet even found someone what was the point of thinking about it. Shaking his head he backed away from the scene.
At night calmly analysing the situation on a treetop, he decided on his next course of action. That is to not settle here permanently.
The earlier revelations have made a new window of opportunity. He decided to travel along the river to find humans that may have survived and reach the river.
It will be very helpful if he is able to find some partner in benefits or rather tools for his future as in this beginning the most important aspect is not 'progress' nor 'development' rather it is 'survival'.
