Robert’s Abilities

Robert was shocked to see that Cayne has revealed his ability. While there were no precedents that such a thing should be kept secret. It was quite easily inferred that such private aspects shouldn't be revealed.

He was also quite stunned after seeing his determination, he thought of his own family and made a decision.

Gritting his teeth, Robert spoke, "I don't know what will happen to me in this world or will I be able to find my family or not. But I do know that we have to stick together. I understand the gravity of your words. I will thus also reveal my abilities."

Cayne was internally quite pleased with this but outwardly he didn't show anything.

Robert continued, "I have three skills. The numbers might seem impressive, but they are all not that much important.

First is {Woodcutting}, as you can see this skill allows me to easily cut trees for wood. I can cut wood into different shapes and sizes. Of course I can't carve something.

Second is {Carrying}. Well, this allows me to easily carry things. Might be due to lifting woods every day from one place to another.

Last is {Axe-swinging}. I can swing my axe and easily control it. I believe that {Axe-swinging} is the best that I have."

Woah, talk about a working builder. Not impressive my ass. You literally got a good combination and say that it's useless.

He can easily carry his axe with one of his skills. Use it easily as a weapon & having a good body and experience on top of it. He can build things through cutting wood.

I was a little envious.

Well, ultimately this is good as it benefits me.

My future plans changed this instant. They must be modified to accommodate him. He can cut wood, using him it is best to create a permanent residence.

Furthermore, my spears handles can be changed with the help of his skill.

Having a streamlined spear may do wonders. I can even create a sturdy raft to cross the river. I can, if found try to bring people from the other side of the river to this side as well.

Coming out of my thoughts, I decided to think of them later.

I immediately extended my hand to Robert, "I will surely not misplace your trust. We will definitely survive in this world."

Robert grasped my extended hand, and from here we came to an agreement.

At night, I decided to stay with Robert. We hunted another animal & had a good meal. We were pouring our feelings out form our hearts or rather Robert was.

While munching on the fish. I talked about my plan of looking for other survivors in the world. He enthusiastically accepted.

Ultimately it was decided that we will continue to look for other people while moving downstream of the river.

Next morning. We greeted each other and started moving on our decided path.

On our way we found a tree. This sturdy tree according to Robert was good in durability and will be best for my spears. We decided to camp here and create our weapons or rather my weapons.

Robert quickly cut the wood into a practical and sleek looking shaft. I attached the spearhead.

Afterwards I tried to swing it. It was better, too much better. Now I could swing it faster.

My {Quick Hands} skill was now much more useful in close contact. To think that a better spear will increase my power this much. It was much more balanced.

Afterwards we resumed our journey.

We have been travelling for a week now. I have covered much more distance that I have previously covered alone. The reason was Robert's skill of carrying things. I am able to move much faster due to reduced luggage.

Furthermore, we are able to sleep a little more peacefully by taking turns.

I spotted smoke rising from a little distance. That was our destination. We had noticed this smoke from afar. We approached the source. And heard sounds of talking or rather screaming.

I and Robert looked at each other. This meant more than one living thing atleast.

We quickened our steps and came to a clearing, there were two people engaging in a fierce battle with a hyena. Or rather they were standing on a tree and trying to frighten the hyena. Which was now trying to climb the tree.

I had never seen hyena trying to climb a tree. But everything has a first time, I guess.

This hyena was quite similar to the wolf, except this was not injured. This meant it was not possible for us to easily kill it. While I was thinking of how to resolve the situation.

Robert directly rushed towards the hyena making loud noises.

Idiot.

The one thing I have noticed is that Robert is a stupid person having little to no intelligence and also gullible.

To think he rushed to save others without even considering anything else.

While I was panicking, Robert directly hurled his axe and entered into a scuffle with the hyena. They were having a very close battle. My heart was stuck in my throat.

I knew I had to do something or else he will die. He can't die, not like this. I must atleast extract his value before him dying.

I took my bow and settled my poisonous arrow on it. This arrow was having a great proportion of poison that I was having in my inventory. Wasteful.

I activated my skill {Calculation} fully, focusing on finding an angle to kill or atleast injure the hyena, while avoiding Robert. Seconds passed my hands were tense I was fully concentrated on the skill. My eyes were following each and every movement of them.

Beads of sweat rolled from my forehead.

Robert swinged his axe horizontally, the hyena jumped back and kept out of the range of Robert. This is it.

I immediately released the arrow.

'Whoosh'

The arrow whistled towards the hyena. The hyena perhaps sensing something looked in the direction and tried to dodge. It evaded successfully but not fully as the arrow still grazed the hyena's front leg.

'Success'

The poison will now surely act and make him sluggish enough for Robert to kill it. Or it could even die of the poison.

I immediately slumped on the ground. Such precise {Calculation} and use of {Quick Hands} was too taxing for me.

While my head was throbbing from excessive use of skill. I felt something.

Disregarding my condition, I willed for the screen. There was a change-

I got the new skill archery.

Hehe, I laughed a little. Then I laughed again this time a bit louder and forcefully.

'Cough! Cough!' I broke into a cough in between. Well not so easily recovered, can I.

I started to calm myself down and looked towards the man & the beast. It was ending. Robert made one final swing to end the hyena's existence.

I looked towards the two humans on the tree.

'Thank you! without you I didn't know when I would have learnt the skill, but you better be worth all the risk and trouble or else you might pay in ways you can't imagine.'

I chuckled mentally.
