Stone Village Ruins- IV

'Fine. Since it has come to this.'

"You want to kill me don't you. Then do it but at least let me say my last prayers."

After saying this I prostrated on the ground. I started praying while keeping my head down.

Time started flowing slowly.

The place was encompassed in complete silence except with me muttering incomprehensible prayer, while only the sounds of our rough breathing can be heard.

We stayed still for the moment.

Finally, it's time.

"Hehe." A low chuckle escaped my mouth.

Robert looked confused. He looked towards me.

I ignored his confused looks and continued,

"Haha."

"Hahahahaha."

Robert felt uneasy. "What…Why are you laughing?"

"Why am I laughing. Hehe, I am laughing at you, fool."

"What do you mean?" Robert felt uneasy.

He moved towards me, but was shocked to find he couldn't muster any strength. His movement were too slow.

I got up & stretched my body, albeit it was painful to stand properly.

"I was getting bored of acting like this. I forgot that bodies are more resistant now.

Well, where was I? Yes, my dear Robert. You truly caught me by surprise.

I really didn't think you had in it you to betray others, a miscalculation on my part. Looks like people develop with circumstances."

Robert just stood there, without any words coming out of his mouth due to shock & horror.

"You still can't understand can you. Well, let me give you a hint." I whispered a word.

After hearing it, he was stunned.

"Aracea. You! you… that medicine." Robert spoke in a horrified tone.

"Bingo, you guessed right. It is not really a healing medicine.

You know, many people once died on Earth due to this. It caused quite a disaster and was the talk of the world.

It is a dangerous paralysis medicine.

Of course, you won't know, will you? After all, in your own words you had a lowly status.

Isn't it quite wonderful. While you were planning to betray me, I was as well."

It was quite ironic.

I went behind Robert and gave a kick on the back of his legs. He fell on his knees.

Grabbing his hair, I gave him two slaps and a punch to vent some of my anger, then making him face me I met his eyes with mine and continued speaking.

"You know Robert, now you are going to die, here. And I will give you a proper burial. You see, I will destroy one of these pillars, letting you buried alive.

No, scratch that, I will kill you and then break it. Who knows if you will crawl from underneath it.

Much better than yours, 'I will go and kill the others as well'."

I mimicked his tone.

"You know Robert I am different from you. I was already finding a way to kill you.

Not because someone told me, but because you are an obstacle in my way."

I spoke in a deadpan way, without any hint of remorse in my voice.

I then continued,

"There are also other differences between us, you see I am a very vengeful fella. So, I will also find your family, but…

I gave a dramatic pause in between.

…. I will torment them and kill them all." I wasn't joking here.

"Also, that Jia, you won't be able to see, I am really sorry for that.

But I will capture her, use her in all ways possible, I will use her myself, then make her a courtesan in a brothel in this world.

You love her don't you. If you want, I can bury her here as well after killing her, or would you prefer her brothel, to be right here above your grave.

It will be a fitting end for both of you." I let out a low chuckle at the end.

How lowly of me.

I looked at the devastated look of Robert.

"Oh, seeing you like this I feel a little bit of pity. Let's see, you know I lied to you Robert, I will not do any of this to Jia.

You are my first companion in this world. I can atleast do this much for you."

Robert looked towards me as if he cannot believe my words. But perhaps he saw some hope.

There was little light shining in his eyes.

Humans really grasp at even the faintest of hope even if they know it is not possible.

Sensing this, I laughed hard, to the point of bursting my stomach.

My laughter echoed through the stone walls of the building.

"I can't believe it, that you believed it. Well not all of my words were false. I did really lie.

I will not use her; she is far beneath me. To think for such an ugly wench, you will perish here.

But each to his own choice." I spoke cynically.

Robert started screaming and cursing me after hearing my words.

Whether from humiliation or anger, I don't know, but those screams were like a reminder that how quickly the people could fall.

I injected the last bit of my remaining poison into his injured arm.

As i said who knows if he will crawl from underneath the stones.

I then ignored him completely and slowly walked towards the most stable and complete pillar.

There were only the sounds of my slow footsteps and the anguish cries and wails of Robert.

He tried to persuade me just like I had.

He gave proposals just like I had.

He begged me just like I had.

Ignoring them all, I reached at the pillar.

I lifted his axe that I had picked on my way.

I stopped for a second.

Then without turning back I spoke in a hushed voice, "You can pray if you want."

Final act of compassion & kindness from me.

Then suddenly I turned back.

"Just kidding. Hehe"

Finally, I gave him the warmest smile I could, that would make even the devils shudder.

"Farewell, my friend."

With those parting words I sent the axe flying to the damaged pillar.
