The whisper slithered through the air like a serpent, curling around Aria's spine and tightening with an icy grip.

Her breath hitched. The marketplace around her remained unchanged—wolves bartering, speaking in hushed voices, watching her with suspicion—but she knew better. The Shadowborn were near.
Aria's pulse pounded as she scanned the edges of the village, her body instinctively tensing. She expected movement in the shadows, glowing eyes peering from the treeline, but there was nothing. Just the faint echo of their presence, lingering, taunting.
"Aria?" Lyssa's voice broke through her thoughts. "Are you okay?"
No. But she couldn't say that.
She turned to Lyssa, forcing her expression to remain neutral. "I'm fine."
