The Fire Within
The first thing Aria felt when she woke up was heat.
Not the kind from the morning sun filtering through the curtains or the lingering warmth from sleep, but something far more intense, more consuming. It coiled in her stomach, spreading through her limbs, leaving her aching, restless.
She groaned, pressing a hand to her forehead. Why do I feel so hot?
Her body felt sensitive, every inch of her skin tingling like it was set ablaze. But she forced herself to ignore it, pushing through the discomfort as she dressed for the day.
She had something to prove.
Even if the pack hated her, even if she was unwanted, she wouldn't hide.
So, despite the dizziness clouding her head, despite the unbearable heat creeping through her veins, she made her way to the training grounds.
She shouldn't have.
Because the moment she collapsed, everything changed.
