A Game of Shadows – Part II
The stone corridors echoed with Aria's hurried footsteps. Every breath burned in her lungs, but she pushed forward, forcing her aching body to keep moving. The shadows had freed her, answering a call she hadn't meant to make. But she had no time to dwell on that now.
Alexander was here. She could feel him.
Their bond—strained, fractured, but never broken—pulsed like a beacon, guiding her through the darkness.
She rounded a corner, pressing herself against the damp stone as voices drifted toward her.
Kael.
And Alexander.
She edged closer, peering through the cracked doorway into the chamber.
Alexander stood in the center, still bound in chains, his golden eyes burning despite the wolfsbane in his system. Kael was pacing, his movements tense, erratic. The rogue Alpha was afraid—of Alexander, yes, but more so of something else.
Something unseen.
Something Aria had felt as well.
