The Edge of Darkness

The blinding light that had enveloped the chamber seemed to pulse with dark energy, cutting through the shadows like a knife. Outside, Alexander, Elias, and the rest of the team crouched behind the rocks, their breath shallow, eyes trained on the facility that loomed in front of them. The diversion had worked, but something was wrong. The faint glow that had ignited at the explosion had suddenly intensified into a fiery burst, casting an eerie light that flickered like a beacon in the distance.

"What the hell was that?" Elias hissed, squinting toward the building. His hand instinctively reached for his dagger, his senses on high alert.

"I don't know," Alexander muttered, his gaze narrowing as his pulse quickened. "But we need to move now."
