The heavy doors of the council chamber shut behind them, sealing away the lingering tension. The air outside was crisp with the scent of pine and damp earth, but it did little to ease the weight pressing down on Aria's chest.

Alexander walked beside her, silent and brooding, his golden eyes unreadable as they stepped into the dimly lit corridor leading out of the council hall.
