Augustus eyed her, very intently before saying, "That woman is the alpha's substitute mate. They've been in a relationship for a while now."
"Re…lationship?" Alexis felt like a heap of sawdust had cludged her throat as she choked the word out.
He glanced behind his shoulder and annoyingly glared down at her. "Thirteen years and the alpha hadn't found his mate, what do you expect? He's the alpha of the pack, not some random that can wait around even if it takes him a hundred years. A Luna is something he needs—it's expected of him and Lady Althea is a great choice."
"I'm sure she is…" Alexis agreed, but there was no form of enthusiasm in her tone. She felt rather begrudged, the weird feeling in her chest negative as if it was displeasure.
